Lina Zinecker of New York City on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lina Zinecker. Check out our conversation below.

Lina, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Walking through New York City! There’s always something to see or someone to observe. Life never gets boring here and now that fall’s here it is extra pretty. People are decorating the exteriors of their houses for Halloween. You feel like you’re in a movie!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello!
My name is Lina and I live and work as a performer in New York City.
I’m originally from Germany, but moved to the U.S. ten years ago to study acting at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA). Since graduating I’ve been performing in commercials, Off-Broadway plays, and award-winning short films.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
To be honest, anyone I’ve ever worked with! Every performer, director, actor etc. has such a different approach to the craft, that I leave every engagement feeling more inspired and with a different view on my job.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I miss being as fearless as I was when I was a kid! Experiences really shape your approach to situations and the more you know about possible outcomes the more it can sometimes paralyze you and keep you from trying again. When you know less you just go for it. I’m trying to get back to that mindset!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
As I said I’m from Germany so I’m all about being punctual. I genuinely hate being late! It’s a respect thing to me. My time is not more valuable than yours.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I think being in the performing arts you give your best at auditions all the time and then don’t end up getting a call back/ the part anyways because you do it for yourself!
