We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lisa Ascolese. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I know there are many people out there who think developing products is easy. They think that anyone can do it…until they get involved. It takes a ton of patience, a belief in the product, and diligence!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lisa Ascolese, and I am the CEO and founder of Inventing A to Z. Through my company, I guide clients in transforming their ideas from a simple sketch on a napkin to fully developed products ready for the marketplace. I support them through every stage of the process, from product development and marketing to securing placements on national television networks including QVC, HSN, ShopHQ, and my own show, Inventors Spotlight TV.
In addition to Inventing A to Z, I founded AOWIE, the Association of Women Inventors and Entrepreneurs. AOWIE is more than a conference; it is a community. We bring women together to share their experiences, uplift one another, and find inspiration through connection and collaboration. Our mission is to support and empower women at every step of their journey in business and innovation.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
The people who influenced me most when it comes to my work ethic are my parents. They made work feel exciting and meaningful. Their passion for business and genuine care for people taught me to see every opportunity with an open mind and a positive spirit.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say I’m proud of you for standing up for the underdog. I always reached out to classmates who got picked on or who got left out, because everyone deserves a seat at the table!
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Many companies that develop products often mislead clients by promising their products will be sold in retail stores within six weeks, only after charging them thousands of dollars with little to no results.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I tap dance to work every single day without fail! My industry is never boring. There is always something new to discover, whether it is a product or a passionate inventor sharing their idea. I find it exciting and inspiring to work with so many creative minds. I am truly grateful that God has given me the gift to create and the ability to help others turn their ideas into success.
