We’re looking forward to introducing you to MaryAnn Bernal. Check out our conversation below.
Hi MaryAnn, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity? For me, integrity is the foundation. Intelligence and energy can vary from person to person, but integrity should remain constant. It’s the quality that builds trust, sustains relationships, and ensures that every action is guided by honesty and respect. Without integrity, intelligence and energy lose their meaning.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Mary Ann Bernal, an award‑winning multi‑genre author. My brand is simply me—writing across different genres to connect with diverse audiences. Most recently, I released The AnaRose Chronicles in April, a project I’m excited to share with readers who enjoy cinematic storytelling and rich character journeys. What makes my work unique is the variety: whether it’s historical drama, adventure, or contemporary themes, I aim to craft stories that resonate with different readers while staying true to my voice.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Often, bonds are broken by miscommunication, when words are misunderstood, feelings are hurt, or intentions are misread. Jealousy and envy can also create distance, leaving people disconnected. What restores those bonds is self‑reflection and a willingness to communicate more clearly. Understanding what is right, choosing the higher road, and extending empathy allow relationships to heal and grow stronger than before.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
For me, changing my mind about something important usually comes after reevaluating my priorities. What once seemed essential in a material sense may lose its significance when weighed against spiritual growth and the realities of life. Over time, I’ve come to see that true importance lies in health and the gift of living itself. Shifting perspective in this way helps me focus on what truly matters.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see is truly what you get. I’ve always been empathetic and willing to help, and people often describe me as a giver. Reliability is important to me. I want others to know they can count on me. While some may call me idealistic, I believe deeply in honor, integrity, and doing what’s right. My word is my bond, and I strive to live by that principle every day.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember that I was always there when it mattered most. I wasn’t perfect, but when the chips were down, I could be counted on. My priorities were clear: family first, always. And I tried to live with a spirit of generosity and helpfulness. If someone needed extra support, I was there. That’s the legacy I’d like to leave: reliability, compassion, and a life guided by doing what’s right, which was not easy.
