We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful 9olar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with 9olar below.
9olar, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
That’s a tough question to answer because it can vary from person to person. I don’t want someone to think my response is false because the process didn’t work for them like how it did for me. But, I personally usually just listen to other musical artists. I always listen to how they sing or mix their vocals. Listening to different genres of music helps me get inspired to make different forms of art. The possibilities are endless when it comes to what you can create.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a fourteen-year-old singer & songwriter. I feel like the reason singing and songwriting is so special is because not everyone can make a hit. For some it can take years of experience just to get the average guy to bop their head to it. I just released a mixtape called “she asked for my sangre so i decided to reply with yes.” and I am currently working on a new project to release to the world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think there are three skills that were the most impactful to me. One of those three skills was learning to be versatile. In terms of learning to be versatile, I think any singer should practice recording in different genres. Practice will always progress into success. Another valuable skill is learning to not be self conscious. You will never be able to succeed if you are afraid of what others may think. The last skill I learned was to realize constructive criticism is not just criticism. In fact, you can use constructive criticism from others to benefit yourself and your art.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Two musical artists come to mind when you asked me that question. Those two people are Ezra and RaveOnRa. Both of them have been huge mentors to me and gave me advice on multiple situations. Whether it was music related, or even simply just about life, they have always been there for me and are some of the greatest people I’ve ever spoken to.
