We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful A. Swain. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with A. below.
A., so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
The great thing about this is that Lipe and I (A. Swain) have the same mindset when it comes to confidence and self-esteem. Growing up, both of us had supportive parents. My parents told me basically two things. Stay out of trouble and make the effort to best in whatever you try to do. I feel like that little bit of broad advice was everything. Too much talking kids won’t listen. So Lipe & I have always been interested in music in some way. Whether it be playing the piano or singing. In that mindset, confidence is all about practice and challenging yourself when you feel uncomfortable in doing things you’ve never done before. While developing your craft, you naturally become confident. Then with that effort you believe you can be confident in whatever you choose to do in life.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
We are both masters of our domains, A. Swain & Lipe are business partners that have more than enough to give the world.
We are Producers/Artists/Entrepreneurs both growing up in the Midwest and got involved in music at a
young age. We first met in 2011 while working on production projects for several
independent artists. Along the way we have produced records in various genres including Hip-
Hop, R&B, Pop, House, & Country. We signed up & coming Country artist Alexandra Kay to our music label (Network Entertain Records) in 2013
producing her debut single & video “No More” giving her a 1st break.
In 2012 we formed our own production co. “Produced By NWP.” We’ve partnered up with Sony The Orchard to distribute our music.
Our music has a original flow to it. Funky, fresh, smoothed out; just a good music vibe. Good vibes that
come by way of intertwining elements of R&B, hip-hop, pop, rock, & country. We just release our 1st album ‘EVERYDAY OF MY LIFE’ featuring 15 different artists including A.Swain Lipe. All tracks produced by us (Produced By NWP) available now on all music outlets.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the three things that really helped me in life has be focus, perseverance, and staying humble. I feel like if you can execute those three things you can figure out how to massage your life in a positive flow. I understand everyone is different, but this has helped me move forward.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The book series that had the most impact on me was ‘The Left Behind Series.’ It was the 1st time I actually read a book from front to back instead of skimming. I read all 13 books. I feel like understanding that most things are taken too literal is just one thing I got from it. Take the time to feel what really makes since and move accordingly.
