Meet Aalana

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aalana. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Aalana, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
They don’t stop anything in real life. I understand that they want their opinion to be heard and taken into consideration but if it doesn’t contribute to my happiness then it will get ignored. There’s nothing wrong with wanting attention. However, they will not be getting it from me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
From being a Marketing Specialist at Link Up Paradise, Executive Chef for Selective Snacks and attending Full Sail University for Audio Production, music remains my #1 focus.

Music is a universal language and being able to speak to other people through this medium is very special to me.

Performing my art is what gets me super excited. Interacting with a crowd whether or not they know the words to my songs is so liberating.

On June 4th, I’ll be releasing my album “My Arriving”. I’ve been working on it over the past 3 years and it’s finally ready for everyone’s ears.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Receptiveness, thick skin & optimism— all in that order!

Being open to new ideas helps a lot when it comes to building the craft but not getting offended easily or taking criticism personally will help even more.

Looking on the bright side and trusting your work will impact the journey the most being it’s YOUR journey!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m down to collaborate with lyricists, songwriters and singers who can get lyrical! I love Hip-Hop but I really love R&B and would love to create more songs that have bars and beautiful harmonies.
