We recently connected with Aaron Hines and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
As someone who has often been the only one in the room who looks like me, I’ve learned that success comes from being confident in your abilities and understanding the value you bring to the table. It’s essential to be prepared, stay focused on the goals, and be willing to put in the hard work. At times, it can feel isolating, but I’ve found strength in being authentic and using my unique perspective to create opportunities rather than seeing it as a limitation. Building relationships, staying disciplined, and consistently delivering results have been key in navigating those moments and turning them into advantages
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Aaron Hines, and I run Premier Performance Training in Brentwood, TN. Our focus is on helping individuals aged 45 and older achieve their health and fitness goals through personalized training programs that address mobility, strength, and longevity. What excites me the most is seeing the transformation in our clients—not just physically, but mentally. Many come to us with pain or limitations, and it’s rewarding to help them regain confidence in their bodies and lead more active lives.
What sets us apart is our personalized approach. We recognize that every individual is different, especially as they age, so we tailor everything to suit their specific needs. Whether it’s improving their balance, increasing strength, or addressing joint pain, we provide long-term health and performance solutions. We also work with athletes, helping them improve speed, agility, and strength to maximize their performance. One of our signature programs is ‘Above the Rim,’ a 12-week offseason vertical jump training program designed to help basketball players enhance their speed, agility, and explosiveness.
In addition to Premier Performance Training, I’m passionate about giving back to the community. We proudly support the Eli Grow Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on promoting youth development and providing scholarships to student-athletes. It’s a cause that aligns with our values and desire to create opportunities for the next generation.
I’m also a three-time bestselling author, and my books focus on fitness, performance, and health. Writing has allowed me to share my knowledge with a wider audience and provide resources that help people reach their goals.
Looking ahead, we’re expanding our offerings by developing more educational content and exploring the benefits of nutrient-dense, whole food supplements that enhance both performance and longevity. It’s an exciting time for Premier Performance Training as we continue to grow and help more people, both in the Brentwood area and beyond.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities have been most impactful in my journey: resilience, adaptability, and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
Resilience: There are always challenges, whether it’s building a business or personal setbacks. The ability to stay focused, push through adversity, and remain committed to the bigger picture has been key. My advice is to develop a strong mindset. Stay persistent, and don’t let temporary failures define your path. Learn from them and keep moving forward.
Adaptability: The fitness and health industry, like any other, is constantly evolving. Staying open to learning and adapting to new trends, science, and client needs has been critical to my success. For those starting out, I recommend staying curious. Invest in continued education, stay on top of industry changes, and be willing to adjust your approach as needed.
Building Relationships: At the end of the day, people do business with people. Building genuine connections with clients, colleagues, and the community has been invaluable. It’s not just about selling a service; it’s about understanding and meeting people where they are. My advice here is to prioritize building trust. Focus on relationships over transactions, and always deliver value. It will pay off in the long run.
For those early in their journey, I’d say focus on these three areas, and don’t be afraid to seek out mentorship or guidance. Surround yourself with people who challenge and support you, and you’ll find yourself growing faster than you might expect.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, I’m always open to partnering or collaborating with like-minded individuals and organizations.
At Premier Performance Training, we’re passionate about improving health, fitness, and performance, so we’re particularly interested in collaborating with health professionals, physical therapists, sports coaches, nutrition experts, and brands that align with our focus on performance, longevity, and whole-body wellness.
I’m also interested in partnering with community organizations and nonprofits, especially those focused on youth development, athletic performance, or wellness initiatives, like the work we do with the Eli Grow Foundation. Whether it’s hosting events, creating educational content, or launching new programs, I’m eager to collaborate with individuals and groups who share our commitment to making a positive impact.
Additionally, I’m always looking for opportunities to collaborate via podcasts. Whether it’s as a guest sharing insights on fitness, health, and athletic performance or hosting conversations with experts in related fields, podcasts are a great platform to reach a wider audience and share valuable information.
If you’re reading this and think there’s a good fit, I’d love to connect. The best way to reach me is through email or directly via Premier Performance Training’s website. Let’s discuss how we can work together—whether it’s through podcasting or other collaborations—to help more people live healthier, more active lives.
