We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aasha Lewis-Redway a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Aasha, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I used to battle imposter syndrome quietly, both in my personal life and while building Geneus R US. For a long time, I felt like I had to prove I belonged in every room, every project, every opportunity. What changed things for me was finally recognizing that the work I do isn’t an accident. I’ve earned my place through consistency, compassion, and a real love for helping creatives shine.
With Geneus R Us, the pressure felt even bigger because I wasn’t just representing myself anymore. I was building something meant to support artists, storytellers, and dreamers. Instead of letting that scare me, I started tracking the small wins, the growth, and the genuine impact we were making. It helped me see that I’m not “faking it” but I’m evolving.
Now, when that old doubt tries to creep in, I remind myself of the rooms I’ve stepped into by God’s favor, the people who trust my work, and the vision I’m committed to. I don’t need to have every answer to be qualified. I just need to keep showing up with intention, integrity, and heart. That’s how I’ve learned to move through imposter syndrome, not by pretending it doesn’t exist, but by choosing not to let it lead.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I wear a lot of hats, but at the core of everything I do is storytelling. Through my platform, Geneus R Us, I shine a light on artists, creatives, and culture in a way that feels real and rooted in community. I interview musicians, artists, and executives to create spaces for honest conversations, and produce events that bring people together. What excites me the most is watching emerging talent get the recognition they deserve. There is nothing like seeing someone step into their moment and knowing you helped create that space for them.
What makes this work special to me is the intention behind it. Geneus R Us isn’t just content for content’s sake. We build connections, support artists who are often overlooked, and give them a platform that sees them as whole people, not just a single song or clip. From our Indie Talks interviews to our panel events and showcase series, everything we do is designed to amplify authentic voices.
Looking ahead, 2026 is a big year for us. We’re expanding into artist services to help emerging artists get real traction with their music. This includes strategic release planning, blog write-ups, interviews, spotlights across all our platforms and more. The goal is simple: make it easier for independent artists to be heard, understood, and celebrated.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that Geneus R Us is a home for creativity. We’re building something that feels personal, intentional, and genuinely supportive. Real Music. Real Style. Real People… And this is only the beginning.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When I look back at my journey, three things stand out as the most impactful: resilience, curiosity, and relationship building. Resilience kept me moving even when doubt showed up, when resources felt limited or when the path wasn’t clear. Curiosity pushed me to keep learning, asking questions, and trying new approaches instead of staying stuck in what felt safe. Lastly, relationship-building opened doors I could’ve never forced on my own by allowing my faith to happen for those open doors. Every connection, conversation, or collaboration helped shape the direction of my work and my brand.
For anyone starting out, my biggest advice is to develop these qualities intentionally. Resilience grows when you stay consistent, even with small steps, and remind yourself that progress counts more than perfection. Curiosity comes from being open to feedback, studying the field you want to be in, and letting yourself explore without feeling behind. Forget the comparisons and where you think you should be! When it comes to relationships, lead with genuine energy; Give value before you ask for anything. Respect people’s time. Stay connected. Most importantly, don’t underestimate how far kindness and professionalism can take you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out when you start. Focus on building these strengths and they’ll carry you through the moments when talent or strategy alone isn’t enough.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I’m definitely open to partnering and collaborating. I feel its power in the right collaboration! At this stage of my journey, I’m looking to connect with people and brands who share a real love for music, storytelling, and culture. That includes independent artists who want to build their audience, content creators who enjoy highlighting talent, media platforms that champion emerging voices, and industry professionals who believe in community over competition. I also love working with event organizers, managers, and publicists who want thoughtful coverage, interviews, or creative promo for their artists.
I’m drawn to collaborators who are intentional, consistent, professional, and passionate about what they do. If someone values authenticity and wants to create work that feels meaningful, we’ll get along well. Anyone interested in collaborating can reach out through GENEUS R US on Instagram, email, or our website. I’m always open to a conversation to see how our goals line up and how we can bring something impactful to life together.
