Meet ABAgail Dunn

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful ABAgail Dunn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with ABAgail below.

Hi ABAgail, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
I absolutely love and adore working with human beings, although I am quite the introvert. The highest compliment that one can give me is how kind and warm I am and I receive that compliment on a regular basis in my dance class, as people do not experience that warmth in most dance classes that they visit.

My generosity truly comes from a place of love, which is why I decided to name my company, A Place of Love, LLC.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I offer belly dance classes on a weekly basis and I have been doing so for the past 7 or 8 years. It has been quite the journey and I have since added other services, such as a Reiki meditation class, to my roster.

My company has grown with me and I am currently in a state of expansion; I will be offering my classes in community centers around Phoenix this year, allowing me to reach more people with my love of health and wellness. I never imagined that owning a business would expand my mind and mindset in so many powerful ways, but it certainly has. Each day, I am challenged in some way that allows me to learn more about myself and that is truly exciting.

I’d love to see you, lovely Reader, in one of my classes or even collaborate with you in some way. Let’s do our part to bring more peace and joy to the world.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Mindset is huge in life in general, but especially in business. It’s important to decide what is realistic for you and stick to that. Keep your mindset positive and excited when possible. Don’t let naysayers near your dreams.

Perseverance is a huge quality when it comes to business. Keep going no matter what things may look like. That may also mean taking a break or a vacation and truly nurturing yourself. Move through life with kindness to yourself, as this always makes things easier.

Self-development is a huge area of knowledge that I am a proponent of. Learn something new each day, apply it where you can, then teach it to others.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am very interested in having a large African dance expo, featuring Belly Dance, hip hop, Soca, and West African dance. I would love to partner with local dancers and dance enthusiasts to make this happen, as it would bring so much joy and knowledge to our community. Expositions like these help to bring the world together, which, in my opinion, will heal the world.
