Meet Abhinav Gopisetty

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Abhinav Gopisetty. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Abhinav, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I developed my confidence and self-esteem through a mix of deep inner work and consistent action. It didn’t happen all at once. I had to start by recognizing the negative patterns, like dismissing my own wins or comparing myself to others.

Therapy, mindset coaching, and journaling helped me understand the roots of my insecurities. But the real growth came from doing the things that scared me. I reached out to people I admired. I spoke up even when I doubted myself.

I’ve learned to celebrate my small wins, even if it’s just with myself, and not let perfectionism or fear stop me from showing up. Confidence, for me, has been about choosing courage over comfort again and again, and building self-trust one decision at a time.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

1. What inspired you to leave your tech/ethical hacking career and pursue acting?
I was successful in my job in tech, but I always felt this emptiness inside, like it wasn’t what I was truly meant to be doing. I had been suppressing my creative desires for a long time, until I reached a point where I couldn’t ignore them anymore. That’s when I made the decision to live a life that feels authentic and aligned with who I really am.

2. What part of acting or storytelling lights you up the most?
Being on set is the most inspiring feeling for me. There’s something powerful about being surrounded by passionate people who love storytelling and filmmaking. Acting feels primal to me, it ignites something deep inside.

3. What kind of roles or stories are you most drawn to—and why?
I especially love comedic roles and have always been drawn to the world of Judd Apatow films. I’m a huge fan of Seth Rogen and his body of work.

4. What do you think sets you apart as an artist? What’s your “special sauce”?
I grew up in India and lived there until I was 21. I think my background and upbringing give me a unique perspective that Hollywood hasn’t seen yet. People often tell me I radiate an energy they’re drawn to. I’m relentlessly determined, optimistic, and I put in the work.

5. Are there any recent or upcoming projects you’re excited about?
Most recently, I wrapped up a psychological thriller short called Carrot, which is also my directorial debut. I played the lead and now I’m submitting it to film festivals. I’m excited to pitch it as a feature in the near future.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’m still very much still on my journey, but so far, three things have made a big impact. The first is resilience. There have been long stretches without bookings, auditions that didn’t go anywhere, and plenty of self-doubt. But I keep showing up, because I know this is the path I’ve chosen and love.

The second is emotional honesty. I’m learning that the more I bring my real self to the work, the more alive it feels and the more it lands. That’s meant doing a lot of internal work, letting go of perfection, and allowing myself to be fully seen.

The third is curiosity. I stay curious about people, stories, my own growth, and the craft itself. I ask a lot of questions. I try to learn from every experience, whether it’s on set, in class, or just watching a great performance.

If I had advice for someone starting out, it would be to stay open, stay honest, and stay committed to the long game. This path tests you, but it also grows you in the most meaningful ways.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I am always open to collaborating with people who are passionate about storytelling and committed to creating meaningful, entertaining work. I am especially interested in connecting with filmmakers, writers, and actors who are exploring grounded, character-driven stories, whether in comedy or drama, and who lead with heart, curiosity, and a strong point of view.

I also enjoy collaborating with South Asian artists and diverse voices. If you are someone who is building something honest, brave, and cinematic, I would love to hear from you.
