Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Acheil Tac. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Acheil , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Being the only South Sudanese Woman in a room full of men in my industry can present unique challenges, but with determination and strategic approach I am able to learn how to maneuver through the industry so I am much more effective and successful. I do this through self confidence, execution, advocacy for other women in this space, and visibility. I always remind myself to make myself visible in every room that I am in. My mantra has always been, we have the power to reshape perceptions and pave the way for future generations.

While the business landscape is evolving and becoming more inclusive, there are still significant obstacles that female founders often face. For example, access to funding, gender bias and stereotypes, lack of representation, navigating male dominated spaces, and much more. Despite these challenges, many female founders have succeed in building thriving businesses, and progress is being made to address gender disparities. With all of that in mind, I try to focus on people that are willing to help and contribute to moving the needle for women founders everywhere. Those that are helping Level the playing field for women in the business world.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My Name is Acheil Tac and I am the founder of ‘The Athlete’s Advocate’. We focus on athlete transition after sports. The Athlete’s Advocate understands that the end of an athlete’s playing career can be a challenging and uncertain time. We believe that athletes possess incredible skills, determination, and leadership qualities that can be leveraged in various industries. With a deep passion for sports and a commitment to athlete success, We are dedicated to being a trusted partner and guide throughout the transition process.
The most exciting and special part about doing what I do is the people we get to help. Most of us go through our lives having the vision and purpose of helping others, but not knowing how to carry that forward. We wonder for years how we can help others and make it a career for ourselves as well. Well, that is what I get to do and it has taught me so much as well as given me so much purpose. We have some really exciting things in the works right now and looking forward to rolling those things out before the end of the year!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities, skills and areas of knowledge that were more impactful in my journey were resilience and perseverance, negotiation and communication skills, strategic planning and knowing my customer base that I am serving though my business.

Advice I would give folks who are early in their journey would be, everything is a continuous learning process. Embrace failures as learning opportunities and celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Each step you take contributes to your growth in whatever you chose to do and brings you closer to achieving your goals. Never give up and always know that the best and YOUR best are yet to come.
