We recently connected with Adam Lincoln and have shared our conversation below.
Adam, so great to have you sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our readers and so let’s jump right into one of our favorite topics – empathy. We think a lack of empathy is at the heart of so many issues the world is struggling with and so our hope is to contribute to an environment that fosters the development of empathy. Along those lines, we’d love to hear your thoughts around where your empathy comes from?
When I was a kid I remember the distinct feeling of sitting upright in my bed every morning before school shaking with anxiety. I’ll never forget the overwhelming nausea and sense of pure fear that riddled my body. I learned that these episodes were panic attacks, and although they have not subsided I have learned to cope with them.
I have learned how it feels to not be listened to, nor understood in a cold, sterile doctor’s office. I have learned how to reconcile with the fact that the majority of people will never understand how intense a panic disorder can really be. These things have guided me toward a sense of empathy that I pride myself on.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I write music, but I don’t just write music. I create for those who haven’t been represented. I write songs for those who don’t see themselves on TV, or as the main character in books, or in positions of power. My lyrics take on the world from the perspective of a young queer person. I hope to empower people who relate, and for my music to act as a scapegoat for any unwanted emotion. Please, use my music as therapy as best you can.
In October of 2025, I released an EP called The Luv Bug EP. It’s a little different from my other discography in the sense that it is much lighter in subject matter. The goal of writing The Luv Bug EP was to capture the essence of falling in love. I wanted to archive the feeling of what it means to get close to someone in that special way. If you’re looking for a catchy, easy listen, check out The Luv Bug EP on Spotify, Pandora, or YouTube.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Going to school for audio engineering and music production taught me more about my own creativity than I thought possible. From learning proper miking techniques to how to run digital audio workstation software, I cannot recommend learning these things in a real, professional studio, enough.
As far as production, it really is just practice, and a lot of creativity. It’s a mindset that you have to build over time. For me, I produce best when I feel strong emotion. Just got broken up with? That’s an album. The state of the world has you feeling hopeless? Produce. Create. Feel it.
Another skill that I’ve developed is songwriting. I was lucky, because as a teenager songwriting was not only an interest, but a passion. It still is. This quickly grew to become an obsession and my time before and after school was spent writing. I wrote in the car, I wrote in class, I wrote on the weekend. I wrote until I developed my style.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for creatives to partner with and collaborate with! I love to sing, I write songs, produce, engineer, and I play guitar as well as ukulele. If you’d like to get in contact with me, my email is [email protected], and my Instagram is @Boxheadmusicofficial.
