We were lucky to catch up with Adam Olsen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adam , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from a combination of how I was raised and what I’ve experienced building my career from the ground up. I grew up in an environment where working hard wasn’t optional. It was just what you did. There wasn’t a lot of talk about it, it was more about watching it. Showing up, doing what needed to be done, and figuring things out even when it wasn’t convenient. That stuck with me early.
But I’d say my work ethic really sharpened when I got into real estate. This is a business that doesn’t reward intention, it rewards execution. Early on, I realized very quickly that no one was coming to save you. If you didn’t follow up, you didn’t get paid. If you didn’t stay consistent, things fell apart just as fast as they came together.
There were seasons where things weren’t easy, deals falling apart, long hours, uncertainty but those are the moments that build discipline. You learn to keep going even when you don’t feel like it, and that consistency compounds over time. As the business grew, my work ethic had to evolve. It became less about just working hard personally, and more about building systems, leading people, and creating something bigger than myself. That takes a different kind of discipline, being consistent not just for your own results, but for everyone depending on you.
At the end of the day, I think work ethic comes down to ownership. Taking full responsibility for outcomes, staying consistent when it’s not exciting, and doing the things that move the needle whether you feel like it or not. That mindset has been a huge part of how I’ve been able to grow both personally and professionally.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I lead The Adam Olsen Team and our commercial division, The Commercial Professionals, where we focus on helping clients buy, sell, and develop real estate across Texas. Our work spans everything from residential homes to large-scale land and commercial projects, so no two days look the same and that’s part of what makes it exciting.
What I find most rewarding is the impact. Real estate isn’t just transactions it is helping someone take the next step in their life, whether that’s a family finding the right home, an investor scaling their portfolio, or a developer bringing a vision to life. Being a part of those decisions and guiding people through them is something I don’t take lightly.
What makes our team unique is the structure behind it. We’ve built a system that combines strong marketing, consistent lead generation, and a high level of accountability across the team. That allows us to operate at a high level while still giving clients a very personal experience. We are constantly refining that system to improve speed, communication, and results not just for our clients, but for the agents on our team as well.
Right now, we’re in a big growth phase. We’re continuing to expand both our residential and commercial presence, bringing on agents who want to be part of a more structured, production-focused environment. We are also investing heavily in systems, technology, and marketing to increase exposure for our listings and create more opportunity across the board.
At the core of it, our brand is about execution. We want to be known for doing what we say we’re going to do, moving quickly, and delivering results. That’s what we’re building, and that’s what we plan to keep scaling.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, there are three things that have had the biggest impact on my journey: consistency, the ability to follow up at a high level, and learning how to build and lead systems instead of trying to do everything myself.
The first is consistency. Early on, I realized that success in this business isn’t about big moments. It is about doing the same things over and over, even when you don’t feel like it. Making the calls, following up, staying organized. The people who win are the ones who stay steady over time. My advice to anyone starting out is to focus less on motivation and more on building habits. If you can stay consistent, you’ll separate yourself quickly.
The second is follow-up. Most opportunities don’t convert on the first conversation. It’s the second, third, sometimes even seventh touchpoint where deals actually happen. Learning how to follow up in a way that is professional, persistent, and adds value is a skill that compounds over time. For someone early in their career, I’d say don’t assume “no response” means no interest. Stay in front of people and be intentional about it.
The third, and probably the most important as you grow, is learning how to build systems and lead people. At a certain point, you can’t scale just by working harder. You have to create structure, delegate, and trust others to execute. That was a shift for me, from being the one doing everything to building something that could operate at a high level beyond just me. For anyone early on, you don’t need a full system right away, but you do need to start thinking that way. Pay attention to what works, document it, and refine it as you go.
If I had to sum it up, it’s this: be consistent, follow up more than you think you need to, and start building processes earlier than you think you should. Those three things will take you a long way.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We’re always open to the right partnerships, especially with people who are serious about growth and execution.
On the real estate side, we’re looking to collaborate with agents who want to be in a more structured, high-performance environment. We’ve built a system around consistent lead flow, strong marketing, and accountability, and we’re continuing to grow that with the right people who are motivated to produce and scale their business.
On the investment and development side, we’re always interested in connecting with investors, builders, and developers who are looking for opportunities in Texas. A big part of what we do is identifying deals, whether that’s land, redevelopment opportunities, or off-market assets and helping bring those projects together.
What matters most to us is alignment. We work best with people who move quickly, communicate well, and follow through. If that’s how you operate, reach out. We would love to connect. The best way to connect is directly, whether that’s through our team, social platforms, or just reaching out. We’re always open to conversations that lead to the next opportunity.
