Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adam & Sara Bannister. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Adam & Sara, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Hello! We are Adam & Sara, a husband and wife team based in the Pittsburgh area that writes, records, and performs original music! As Christians, our faith is the most important thing in the world to us, and it flows into every aspect of life, including our confidence and self esteem. The Bible teaches that God created men and women in His own image and wants to have a relationship with them. Knowing that we were created by God, are children of God, and are beloved in His eyes gives us a solid identity and security. Then everything else is built upon that. We can develop skills, grow in personal character, and discover our natural giftings and passions with the freedom of knowing that none of these things determine our worth. Our confidence and self esteem come from knowing that we are already invaluable and beloved simply for being alive.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Adam and I are musicians and recording artists, and we release our original music under the band name Adam & Sara. We love to create soulful, singer/songwriter style music with uplifting and Christian lyrics. We released a new EP called “I’ll Be There” last November! The four songs on the EP—some of which were written years ago and some more recently—walk through a journey of feeling weary and overwhelmed, confused, and homesick, and then finding that God is with us right by our side through all of it. We are also currently working on an acoustic album that we can’t wait to share later this summer! Check out Adam & Sara on Spotify or wherever you listen to music!
In addition to our work in the studio, Adam and I love to perform live. Whether we’re singing our own music or covers, leading worship at local churches, or playing at weddings, fundraisers, festivals, and other events, we are always booking gigs! If you need live music at your event in the Pittsburgh area, let us know!
Besides everything we do as the band Adam & Sara, Adam and I also run a music ministry called Songs for Revival. Songs for Revival is an LLC that writes, produces, and tours original music with the goal of creating a space of worship, preaching the Bible through song, and seeing people come into deep relationship with Jesus Christ. This March, Songs for Revival debuted their first large scale production called The Moses Project, which featured a full choir and orchestra as well as soloists and actor/narrators! The Moses Project is based on the Biblical book of Exodus and tells the powerful story of the Israelites exodus from slavery in Egypt. We plan to perform a smaller “tour” of The Moses Project this fall! Visit songsforrevival.com to learn more!
Adam and I are also both music teachers, and we offer private lessons in voice, piano, guitar, and violin. We help manage the local music studio where we teach, called Pittsburgh School of the Arts. We feel honored to be able to invest in the next generation of musicians and worship leaders! If you would like to book a lesson with us (virtually or in person), visit pittsburghschoolofthearts.com!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As we look at the journey we’ve been on as musicians over the past several years, three of the qualities that have been the most important are hard work, vision, and integrity. Hard work: The music industry is not a “one-size-fits-all” career path, and there is really no guarantee of success, which makes it absolutely crucial to have a strong work ethic. You have to be willing to put in the time and effort required to pioneer new paths and accomplish your goals. Vision: Without vision, it would be really easy to give up as soon as things get difficult or discouraging. But if you have a clear vision of why you do what you do, not only will it guide you down the right path toward the types of projects you really care about, but it will also help you persevere and push through toward the next goal. And lastly, Integrity: You cannot be successful in any vocation—or life in general—without being honest and trustworthy, treating people with respect, and following through on your word. We have learned that so much of life and even business is built on relationships so having a strong track record of integrity and authenticity will get you a long way.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes! We are always looking for people to partner and collaborate with!
If you are a songwriter or worship leader, we would love to collaborate on a project or co-write new music together!
If you have an event, venue, or church in need of music, our band Adam & Sara and our music ministry Songs for Revival are both always looking for events and venues to perform at, including churches in need of guest worship leaders!
If you are interested in private music lessons (virtually or in person in the PIttsburgh area), we would love to work with you through Pittsburgh School of the Arts!
