We recently connected with Adilene Rodriguez and have shared our conversation below.
Adilene, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
Throughout my life, I have always had a glass half full kind attitude, which is not to say that I’ve had a perfect life, on the contrary, I’ve experienced many trials but I’ve never given up hope that things would work out in my favor. I’ve manifested so many wonderful things in my life by simply believing that they would happen so I’m a true believer that being optimistic in life is essential not only for personal satisfaction, but also for business success.
While I am not perfect, I have grown and learned alot about this business over the years. In the beginning, I let negativity take over and did nothing all day out of fear of getting yelled at. One of my biggest challenges was cold calling. For those that don’t know what cold calling is, it’s an old school way that real estate agents generate new leads who eventually can lead into clients but being hung up on by sellers, cussed at by them, and repeatedly told no contributed to my anxiety and burnout. Until one day I decided to take my power back and realized that although I couldn’t control people’s reactions, I could control mine.
That started with my mindset. I stopped allowing others’ negativity to bring me down. I realized that just because they may be having a bad day or have self limiting beliefs doesn’t mean they have to become mine. I did not give up and I continued no matter how many times I was rejected or encountered difficulty. Remember, the first 20 people can tell you no but eventually you will get a yes and that one person is all you need.
Normalize waking up with gratitude. Set your daily intentions and believe that it’s only going to get better from here because it will!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Originally from Los Angeles County, I am an energetic and passionate real estate agent on a mission to make real estate REAL for YOU! Specializing in helping clients buy and sell homes and turning a transactional process into a personal, approachable yet educational and successful experience.
In an industry where the level of service may often vary, my goal is for my clients to walk away with a new standard of what real estate agents should be because really any realtor can help you buy or sell a home, but I believe that who you partner with makes all the difference on how the next few weeks or months will go.
Having worked in customer service for over 10 years, the customer experience is my top priority and that means always communicating with my clients every step of the way and never leaving them guessing what comes next.
As real estate is not always a one-size-fits-all situation, I like to take the time to answer all questions and provide options.
I pride myself in providing clarity, communication, trust, and above all transparency to achieve a successful real estate outcome.
Luxury is more than a price point, it’s an experience
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
3 Things I Wish Someone Would Have Told me When I First Began My Career …
1. They say, “start a business and you’ll learn who your real friends are”. When I first started I thought everyone was going to use me as their real estate agent and boy was I wrong. Your biggest supporters will be strangers and that’s ok. Don’t focus on those who don’t support you. Focus on those that do. The rest doesn’t matter.
2. Network and nurture relationships with peers as well as mentors who can guide you in the right direction.
Don’t get sucked in by those wanting to become your sponsor and then leave you out to dry. When choosing a brokerage choose wisely. Your sponsor will be benefiting financially from you for life!
Your reputation is important. Come from collaboration not competition. Absorb everything you can from those who are successful and willing to share with you their systems and pay it forward when your time comes.
Join your local Chamber of Commerce to build connections in your community and contribute to making it a better place to live.
3. Don’t be afraid to take risks and try new things as this will help you grow personally and professionally. As a new agent everything will seem new to you. This is scary yet exciting. Don’t let others’ opinions influence you. Find what works for you from trial and error and stick to it. Above all, do the work. There are no shortcuts.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
There are many things I wish someone told me when I first started my career. Gosh, there are so many things I wish someone told me before I even took my test! That’s why I am on a mission to help new agents, just like I once was. It is ironic that in a profession that revolves around establishing connections with people, one can feel so isolated, as if everyone is only focused on their own interests.
That is why my approach is centered on collaboration rather than competition. Consequently, I will be focusing on creating more content exposing the reality of what it really takes to be an agent and the not so glamorous life we see on T.V.
