Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aditi Joshi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aditi, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I believe my resilience stems from a combination of factors. Firstly, my upbringing instilled in me a strong sense of perseverance and determination. Being raised in an Indian family there was and is no opportunity for excuses. Either you do what you are meant to do or you stand aside and admit failure. And failure wasn’t an option. The India that I know of, was a country were there were few opportunities per capita and so you always needed to be one step ahead to be good enough. Also hailing from a progressive and intellectually driven environment, there was always the expectation to improve oneself.
Secondly, I draw strength from my personal values, such as resilience, adaptability, and optimism due to setbacks and situations that I had to experience which were out of my control. These values have served as guiding principles that helped me navigate those difficult situations with a solution focused and positive outlook.
Finally, there are people in my life whose life experiences had a tremendous impact on me and have helped shaped my thinking to be adaptable and forward looking.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My professional background started in big-tech, encompassed marketing and sales over the years, and resulted in me becoming a founding partner in a digital agency that specializes in healthcare marketing amongst other industries. My interests on the other hand, have forever hovered around cutting-edge healthcare, technology and manufacturing, and so I decided to use my career capital and interest to establish Ebisu Supplies.
Ebisu Supplies began its journey as a government contractor, providing essential medical supplies and products to various government agencies. However, what truly sets Ebisu apart is its commitment to excellence, and adaptability, which has allowed it to organically reach into the private sector.
What excites us the most about our work is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and affect people’s lives. From supporting critical government initiatives to helping businesses thrive, Ebisu Supplies is more than just a supplier – we’re a partner in progress.
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce our nationwide expansion into the private sector. This new venture opens up exciting opportunities for collaboration and growth. What does this mean to us? It looks like working with healthcare innovators, humanitarian aid and disaster relief agencies, everyday carry and so on. We’re constantly innovating and exploring new avenues to better serve our clients with valuable products and contribute to their success.
Ebisu Supplies is not just a brand; it’s a symbol of meaning. We’re thrilled about the journey ahead and look forward to continuing our mission of delivering exceptional value to our clients, both in the public and private sectors.
At the end of the day as an individual and the founder of Ebisu Supplies my goal is to build relationships which result in helping people and positively impacting a wider community. The more I can do and make a difference is really what I am concentrating on.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, there are a few traits that have been helpful, however the top 3 would be:
- Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability have been essential in responding to changing circumstances and seizing new opportunities along the way. Embracing change, staying open to learning, seeking out diverse experiences, and going with the flow have been great teachers and instilled a growth mindset. Having moved continents over the decades, I’ve found myself constantly adapting to my environment. Be it living and working across the Middle East and North Africa, India, the UK or the United States, adapting to the environment and stepping out of my comfort zone at that point has allowed me to gain new insights, explore different avenues and broaden my perspective.
- Building a Community: The proverb “ it takes a village to raise a child” holds true time and againand is relevant in every scenario. Nurturing relationships has taught me a lot as a person. The ability to lean into a community in-person or virtually and contribute to the community has been rewarding. It has allowed me to follow my mission to help others. It opened waysto seek mentors whose advise has greatly benefited my growth as a person and business owner.
- Contributing Purposefully and Positively: It has been ingrained in me to always have a purpose and make a positive impact. The environment is irrelevant- at the end of the day, as a thinking being, it is vital to live a purpose driven life and be there for those in need. This often times creates a culture of exchange and uplifts the space.
My advice for those starting out, I would say is, think of it this way, life happens while you are busy making plans. So, always be curious, be open to change, prioritize learning and finally seek out mentors who instill a growth mindset. This sets you up to take on new challenges and create opportunities.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Quoting Marcus Aurelius here. He said, you should only listen to people “whose lives conform to nature.”
I’ve been doing this for 20 years and learnt that you can make relationships that are real, but when you connect in an honest way with a company or client, then things really work out for the long term. Sometimes relationships fail as well, however, my goal is to establish meaningful connections with clients and growth partners that are on the same path as me and my company. This synergy creates a cumulative effect.
At the end of the day, I want to feel rewarded about the work I do. With that, I keep my doors open to opportunity with like minded people who want to make a positive impact.
