We recently connected with Adjani Loaiza and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adjani , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
I think this comes from, not wanting to settle or live an unfulfilled life or even having that “ what if “ regret.
I took a risk when I left my corporate job and moved to Jacksonville, Fl. I had recently reconnect with an ex boyfriend, and didn’t know if this was a smart move. But I didn’t want to live in regret. That move changed my life! I married him, started my business, met wonderful people, made friendships that mean the world to me. I had amazing opportunities, like collaborating with businesses I admired. I took another risk, when I decided to start my business. It was so scary and very risky, but I did it! I love this journey and none of this would have happened if I didn’t take a risk. I have a quote in my studio that says “ what if I fail.. oh but feeling, what if you fly” and it’s a quote I read every single day.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I create and design colorful jewelry pieces for the girlies that love to stand out! My vision for Fancy Society was to start a jewelry brand that is fun, sparkly, and accessible! My brand is more than just selling jewelry, it’s about bringing a community together and friendships. I am the creative director of all our shoots, and my goal has always been to be inclusive. You will see girls that are different sizes, race, age, etc! Girls have become friends in our shoots! And that makes me so happy. I’m so proud of that. I built a nice community in Jacksonville. Although, we are, currently in Virginia, thanks to those military orders, we are still in contact with our 904 community.
Fancy Society, is changing a bit. And this excites us! We’re designing and creating more pieces in house, we’re learning new jewelry skills. We want to be the it brand, where girls can get their everyday jewelry to those special occasion jewelry.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For me being authentic and remembering why I started this, has been incredibly important and has impacted the way I show up for my brand. To realizing the importance of networking. As an introvert networking felt very intimidating and made me nervous, but the more I stepped out of my comfort zone. I started meeting other business owners that completely changed my business and my life..
I would say my biggest advice is to, stay authentic, be kind , network, built relationship relationships before you ask for free stuff or favors!
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
For me, my biggest obstacle has been moving to a different state where the style
Is completely different. Having to start all over and trying to meet people and make friends, has been so challenging. I’m slowly getting into the market scene and networking. But the vibe is different. But jk staying positive and optimistic.
