Meet Adrain Webb

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adrain Webb a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrain, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism is deeply rooted in my upbringing, personal experiences, and mindset.

Growing up, I was surrounded by a family that always encouraged a positive outlook on life, even in the face of adversity. One of the lessons instilled in me the belief that there is always a silver lining to be found, no matter how dire the circumstances may seem.

Throughout my life, I’ve encountered my fair share of challenges and setbacks, but I’ve learned to approach them with a hopeful attitude. I’ve learned to see obstacles as opportunities for growth, rather than setbacks. This mindset has allowed me to maintain a sense of hope and resilience even through unsure times like COVID-19.

One of the key sources of my optimism is my belief in the power of possibility and potential. I’ve witnessed firsthand how individuals can overcome their self-imposed limitations and achieve incredible feats through sheer determination and optimism. These stories of triumph and resilience have inspired me to adopt a similar outlook on life.

Additionally, I’ve cultivated my optimism through mindfulness and gratitude practices.

Taking time each day to reflect on the things I’m grateful for helps me maintain a positive perspective, even when facing challenges. By focusing on the present moment and appreciating the blessings in my life, I’m able to cultivate a sense of optimism that carries me through difficult times.

Ultimately, my optimism is a choice—a conscious decision to see the world through a lens of hope, possibility, and positivity. It’s a mindset that empowers me to embrace life’s uncertainties and absurdities with courage, knowing that every challenge is just an opportunity for growth and learning in disguise.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am currently focused on building my brand and studio to allow me the freedom and creativity of portrait photography. I want to create art in the world of content but I know that there’s a healthy balance. I love the human expression and how it can light up an image. Being able to capture that is an honor and one that I’m continuing to hone.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Just start.

No matter how not-ready you are, just start. Make some friends along the way who are doing cool things and has the qualities or skills you desire. Keep practicing, put your work out there and keep going the path. The best time to start was before, the next best time is now.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
It’s best to go where your strengths are and what you enjoy doing. If you have to choose one, do what you’re good at and you’ll find something you enjoy more along the way. The reason is that if you’re already good at something it’s easier for you to stick to it and get better at it versus something that you struggle with. For I’m verbally skilled and I can combine that with other skills such as videography/photography in terms of directing or firing up the team before an event.

Being well-rounded is good, finding a balance is better. Focus on strengths first and discover the auxiliary skills that best fit you and where you want to go along the way.
