We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adrian Byrd. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adrian below.
Adrian, I am so excited to have you with us today. There is so much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
That’s a great question. My creative spirit is sparked from the idea of not letting God, family, friends and myself down. I go above and beyond to complete any project that I’ve been entrusted to. My drive and desire to keep going stem from the work I perform and the fulfillment I receive when a project is finished; it all comes around full circle. It’s similar to the moment when you paint and canvas and your able to finally see the finished work, it’s a work of art, a masterpiece.
Let’s take a small detour. Maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you.
As you are aware Bold Journey family, I work in the music industry as Winktracks and the art industry as Y Y. I grew up in Chocolate City, on the northeast side of Washington, D.C. There has always been a strong link between art, music, fashion, health, wealth, and technology, thanks to my mother Linda Byrd, my brother Robert Byrd, also known as Go Go Boo, and my grandfather William “Jim” Byrd Jr. The six have never had a stronger connection than they do right now.
Despite the uncertainty that many creatives encountered during the early phases of the COVID-19 epidemic. My priorities where and still are to build a legacy with my wife Natyia Byrd, fashion designer and stylist, my daughters Avah Byrd, aka Totally Avah, (youtuber and dancer) and Anyia, aka Nyia Poppin, Music artist and dancer, my mother Linda Byrd, fashion designer, hairstylist, and teacher, brothers Antoine, Ricardo, nephews Antoine, and Mikhail and niece, Zarri, my entire family. I kept my head down and worked hard during that period, and now look at us.
The COVID-19 pandemic of 2019 inspired me to use the peculiar circumstances as fuel to develop my creativity in music, art, fashion, tech, health, and wealth, as well as to help and mentor this generation and the next generation of talented individuals in these industries.
In addition, the Byrdnest Music Group crew is hard at work nurturing and assisting some amazing talent. Creator, dancer and YouTuber Totally Avah, music producer DJ Leezy Exclusive, music producer DomWitDaHeat, writer, QueenPTheBrand, music artist Scotty May, Tweetsie Baby, Singer and songwriter Knoir, and audio engineer SkyBoxPro.
In order to run several enterprises under one LLC, Byrdnest Enterprises was established. These firms included the multi-media company Byrdnest Motion Pictures, the Byrdnest Music Group, Byrdnest Beats, and Byrdnest Management, which gave me the opportunity to express music and art simultaneously. Since I’ve been a contributor to graphic design, music production, management and/or mixing and mastering on projects with Drem00n, Esharpe, JShep of LVRN, Brskash, Quality Control artist Metro Marrs, Arkbar V, Lil Boosie, Dyson Alexander, Frankie of DFRNT LVL, MykelOnTheBeat, Cassius Jay, Marcus Canty, Epic Records, Rich Gang/FYB, OVO affiliate TVGUCCI and PREME, LilDopeBoy of Republic Records, Nick Cannon’s Ncredible, Epic Empire Company, Humble G Da Boss, Zaytoven, Lyric Anderson, Abar_V, Trippie Redd, SOS LO,Trina, Beatroot, Prince Howard and more.
I entered into a collaboration partnership deal with Foundations Media’s owner and president, JJ Jensen, in 2020. Being a record label owner has been an amazing experience. I work closely with every department at Byrdnest Music Group. Giving creatives the tools they need to succeed is our aim. Our goal is to equip creatives with tools needed to eventually be able to fly on their own, the same bird tends to the younger bird in the nest and gives back thoes same tools for the next generation to fly. Our tagline is #BNorOUT; the BN is for Byrsnest, it’s a loyalty thing; the show must go on whether you’re fully committed or not to the mission.
In 2022, we signed a really fire music producer who go’s by the name DomWitDaHeat. Now DomWitDaHeat in also signed with Radical Publishing Group and Byrdnest Music Group Management. Partnering with my bro Dremoon and Radical Publishing Group has been one of the highlights of 2023. I feel blessed to be part of such a great team. He is the Creator and Founder of Radical Publishing Group and Grammy Award-winning producer for the hit song “Drunk in Love” by Beyoncé and Jay-Z. He also co-produced “Heartless” from The Weeknd’s After Hours album and co-produced “Self Love” with Coi Leray, “Hummingbird” with James Blake, and “Non Violent Communication” with James Blake from the Across the Spider soundtrack, which Metro Boomin executive produced, among other groundbreaking songs.
The official clothing brand known for its thought-provoking fusion of fashion, art, entertainment, health, and wealth is YYISEART FIGURINE. It comprises three key components and was founded in 2016 by myself. This new brand is born out of my deep passion for art, fashion, entertainment, health, and wealth. Influential figures like Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Dr. Sebi, Outkast, Brian Donnelly (Kaws), Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ice Cube (director of “Friday”), F. Gary Grey (director of “Ms. Jackson”), Bryan Barber (director of Outkast’s “Roses”), Jay Z, Kanye West, Tom Hanks’ film directors (including “Forrest Gump,” “National Lampoon,” “Ghost Busters,” “Back to the Future,” and “The Color Purple”), John Singleton (director of “Boyz in the Hood”), Harold Ramis, Robert Zemeckis (director of “Forrest Gump”), Spike Lee (director of “Do the Right Thing”), Richard Donner (director of “The Goonies”), Michael Schultz (director of “The Last Dragon”), Berry Gordy, John Hughes (director of “The Breakfast Club”), and Martin Goodman (creator of Marvel) have all played a role in inspiring this venture. Many people often inquire about the meaning of the Y Y, and my response is straightforward: “I aim for people to embrace and cherish their art, just as these remarkable artists I’ve mentioned have done. You are a living, breathing work of art (a figurine), and thus, you embody the YYISEART Figurine.” Currently, I am wrapping up the summer fashion line and preparing for the fall/winter release, so stay tuned.
YYISEART GALLERY signifies a new yet familiar phase in my artistic journey. I’ve felt an innate calling to embrace my artistic talent from a young age. YYISEART GALLERY is dedicated to creating art that stimulates wise (Y Y) thoughts. While I’ve developed a strong affection for contemporary and pop art, I always maintain an open mind to explore new avenues. I frequently explore various mediums such as oil paint, watercolor, acrylics, digital media, 3D molds, and figurines. The choice of medium significantly influences an artwork’s style, texture, and overall appearance and I want you to think and wise (Y Y) above all.
I vividly recall the surreal moment when I was featured on Kanye West’s Team Kanye Daily art page, unaware of it until then. Just the day prior, I had congratulated my friend IRKO, a producer and engineer, on his work with Kanye West’s 10th studio album, ‘DONDA.’ To my surprise, I discovered that my artwork, “RED DONDA HEAVEN,” was featured on their Instagram page. It felt like a series of signs aligning. I take immense pride in my work and feel grateful that it’s gaining recognition. Presently, I’m in the midst of planning a art exhibition with Julie Sue, Acting Secretary at the Department of Labor, alongside her team including Senior Advisor Christina Chen and Senior Counselor Betty Hung. I eagerly anticipate the exhibition’s outcome.
Adaptour Corp, where technology and music merge in a symphony of innovation. It’s the brainchild of none other than Grammy-winning producer Dremoon and myself, and we’re on a mission to craft revolutionary technological solutions that transcend boundaries, enhancing not just music culture, but the entire world of entertainment.
Picture a future where our tech prowess reaches into the realms of AI, transforms the magic of movies, and so much more. But here’s the crescendo of our story: Dremoon, found his musical genius featured in the spectacular “Across the Spider-Verse” movie, a collaboration that included the brilliant executive producer of the soundtrack Metro Boomin and Sony. This moment wasn’t just a glimpse of what’s possible; it was a blaze of innovation that expanded my vision for the boundless potential in the worlds of movie and music technology. If you haven’t witnessed this electrifying masterpiece, I wholeheartedly recommend that you do—it’s nothing short of a blazing revelation.
So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I look back, the things that helped me succeed were learning the art as best I could, being dependable, networking, and, if I could add one more, being a real person. The breakdown is as follows: Learning, comprehension, and confidence can only come by studying your craft. Praying through, suffering through and persevering through difficult times is essential for preserving steadiness. Ultimately, networking is all about forming positive relationships with individuals.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always looking for the right people to collaborate with. Currently, my business partner and owner of Radical Publishing Group and partner at Adaptour Corp., Dremoon, and I are always looking for people working in tech,AI, editing, VST development, app development, and music. We are always looking for original talent, artists, producers, digital marketers, writers, engineers ect.
