We recently connected with Adrian Cota and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Adrian with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I moved to USA by myself to pursuit music when I was just 14 years old. I knew what I wanted to do and I knew I had to work for it, if I didn’t do it no one else was gonna put on the work for me. It’s the same as being thrown into the ocean and figure out how to swim and make your own way.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
With Mexican music becoming a stronger and stronger influence in his work, Adrian has been sought out to create music for brands such as Corona, and Apple. Adrian partnered with Apple to write and produce the official anthem for the MLS (Leagues Cup) to commemorate its most historic moment and the arrival of Lionel Messi. He collaborated on the song with producer duo, Take A Daytrip (producers for Lil NasX, Kid Cudi, and Kanye West), and brought in Mexican superstar band, Fuerza Regida. Adrian has an impressive roster of other collaborations A-list artists, including Yebba, Ben Harper, Banda MS, Mario Domm, Snow Tha Product, Saweetie, Myke Towers, Donavon Frankenrieter, Caloncho and Camila.
Recently, as a solo artist, Adrian was featured on the song, “GOOD EITHER WAY” by Quinn XCII as part of his latest album, “The Peoples Champ,” which made its way to #3 in the U.S. and #6 globally on Spotify’s albums charts.
There is a Tsunami of Mexican music and culture about to break on the shores of the United States and the rest of the world. Adrian is the crest of this epic wave with his playful yet vulnerable songwriting, fiery and passionate live show, industry leading production, and general magnetism. Like a divining rod, the industry is looking to him to help discover and unearth the next great movement in music and culture. 2024 is starting off at a sprint for Adrian with the release of his debut self titled L.P. “Adrian Cota” which will be followed up with music videos and high profile collaborations. He will be promoting his upcoming music with a tour and supporting performances for chart topping latin band “Camila” on one of their shows at their arenas tour, as well as his music being featured in film and television. Adrian is the tip of the spear at the coming zeitgeist, and the spear is coming in hot.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
– Uniqueness:_______
– Dedication: Has helped me develop my talent so I can make the most out of it.
– Good Environment: I surround myself around people who make me better and inspire me to be the best version of myself. I always feel inspired.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Supporting me as a musician since they saw my love for music when I was 2 years old or so.
