We were lucky to catch up with Adriana Bushong recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriana, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose when I turned 18 and took a bus from my town to the capital of my country (Colombia). I wanted to build a better life for myself and create opportunities by working hard and studying my future profession as a Journalist. I started my own business while studying and that motivated me to do more. I worked myself through the ranks of the government and my determination let me work directly for the President of Colombia and other Ministers within the government. After 12 years of working for the government I wanted to travel the world to see and start my dream of having my own brand of swimwear.
During my journey I met some people that were in the beauty pageants and they looked at my skills and confidence. They convinced me to try and represent my town as a Mrs. Santander and I started to train with one the most famous trainers of queens in Colombia. I wanted to be the best and get the crown as Mrs Colombia because of my hard work ethic and will to win and I made it! I asked God after Mrs Colombia crown what I have to live this experience and the answer was: you have to keep helping others, and I created my own social movement Reina el corazón for work side by side with non profits organizations. After the being crowned Mrs Universe, I worked harder with my non-profit and others were helping me to help children in schools and helping the elderly in nursing homes. I was recognized by the Women’s Federation for World Peace International. I was designated as Global Woman Peace Ambassador for that organization. and the beauty pageant designated me as a Humanitarian Ambassador of the universe to continue supporting foundations and contributing to society.
I wanted to become a professional model and I completed my training and working with other modeling companies. The training in modeling is helping me currently with my Swimwear business and right now I am working in my first collection.
At the end my purpose is inspiring others with my life experiences and continue to live out your dreams and help others while you succeed.

I explained my focus in life and gave some really good examples of hard work and determination to be the best. I started with nothing and I am now married and enjoying life with my husband. My husband and I are partners in our business. We look forward to the success because we are building our brand of swimwear with passion, creativity and innovation in our business. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Passion: To be successful no matter what I have created through opportunities.
Discipline: Focus everyday on tasks that are required to get closer to dreams
Compassion: Always think about where you came from and how you can help others that are in need.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Definitely is my family because since I left my home i said to myself don’t forget we are you come from and they are giving me the strength and love i need every time I start a new journey in my life. My husband has been my rock in my life and being business partners is an extension on our life together.
