Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adriana Muñoz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adriana, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity is intrinsic for all humans. In my case I find creativity in everything I do. The way I hang out the laundry, coming up with new recipes every time I cook, as well as, dressing up, always different depending on my mood. I always know if I´m going to have a good day at painting when I´m getting dressed, it´s so fun. I also like observing everything when I´m walking at Madrid neighborhoods. I used to love doing this when traveling, but I discovered I can also open my eyes here and I find lots of inspiration in every little detail of my day by day. I like to observe conversations between old people, the moves of flowers when the wind touches them, or watching lovers kissing.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Adriana Muñoz, also known as Dridri, is a painter born in Seville in 1990. She grew up in Valencia and currently resides in Madrid. Adriana combines painting with her other job as decorator in commercials and the cinema industry.
In her paintings, Adriana captures scenes of daily life, evoking a familiar feeling of joy and appreciation for life.
Her work invites us to reflect on the essence of little things and people, and the importance of living in the present and appreciating the beauty of every detail, often invisible to the eyes in a hectic and fast-paced society.
At her paintings you can also see her taste for different themes inspired by the human figure, nature or popular culture following a creative process characterized by exploration and experimentation, using the accidents of the process as a fundamental part of her work.
At the moment she is preparing an exhibition to do in 2025.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think it´s important to stay focused and to be really open and learn from everyone you meet in your path.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I have always been surrounded by really good friends since I arrived to Madrid, we all share same passion and we support each other in our careers. My friends also artists, Desi Civera, An Wei Lu, Li, Carmen Main.. gave me advise and tools in my creativity process, as I didn´t studied arts. I eventually took painting classes with Desi Civera, An Wei, or Guille at Espositivo Academy and they gave me essential tools and knowledge to continue growing as an artist.
I also had the oportuinity to work as a tutor for Kids at Espositivo Academy for years, and I really enjoyed it. This academy is not only a place for learning, it´s also a community of really nice people that shares shame way of seeing life.
