Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adriana Shuman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adriana, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
The not-so-simple answer is this: by embracing silence.
What I mean by embracing silence involves taking solitary walks often, without talking, without a specific plan, simply stepping out of my 8-story apartment building in the evenings and wandering up the hill towards nature, walking as much as I desire. Or getting in my car and just driving, no destination, no schedule, just me allowing myself to be guided wherever I need to go. Sometimes, I’d listen to music, my Walkman accompanying me, letting the sounds soothe my mind. Many times, I found myself crying and talking to myself. This was my way of connecting to my inner self, my true self when I was a young adult still living in Slovakia, growing up in a violent home facing a lot of physical and emotional abuse.
No as an adult I continue to practice every day. Every morning i get up, drink my water, look into the sky and then sit and just listen to what comes up.
This quietness allows the subconscious mind to surface; that’s how I see it. This isn’t a scientific explanation but my own experience, and how I manage to capture these feelings in words as I write this. We all know our purpose; it’s not something we have to seek out or discover. It’s already within us. We just need to quiet down enough to hear our own voice. Patience is key—no forcing, rushing, or expecting. It will become clear when we’re ready to listen.
When you practice this enough, something shifts. You begin to hear what you’ve always known.
When I was young living with my parents, my sole purpose was to find happiness. Thats all I truly wanted to feel. This purpose of being happy drives every day to be true to myself, to do the things that make me happy.
In my book “The Light: Living Your Truth,” I delve into the topic of purpose. I titled the chapter “Your Purpose is Happiness.” I argue that everyone’s purpose is to live their truth, and living that truth will bring happiness because you’re in alignment with who you are, what you’re meant to do, and who you’re meant to be in this lifetime.
When you’re happy, everything is in balance. No matter what’s happening around in the world, as long as you’re living your truth, what is truly you, you’ll be okay.
My purpose is to guide, to teach others to live well and that is when i feel happiness.
Happiness isn’t about being in constant joy. Happiness is living in your truth
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My childhood was marred by health issues, frequent antibiotics, and a turbulent home life. These challenges ignited my determination to take control of my health and help others do the same. After graduating from Pharmaceutical University at 26, I seized the chance to start anew in the United States, leaving behind my old life in search of emotional freedom and better health.
This journey led me to realize the impact of lifestyle on health, having witnessed my family suffer from diseases not caused by genetics or old age, as they believed, but by poor lifestyle choices. As a former pharmacist turned functional medicine health coach and biohacking enthusiast, I’ve dedicated myself to understanding the human body and advocating for a holistic, evidence-based, and personalized approach to health.
I planned my escape to the United States of America after I graduated in the summer of 2001, I arrived in New York in October 2001 with a few words of English and only a couple of thousands of dollars I got from selling my car. this was not easy, though I have learned that more challenging and difficult things are as long as they are aligned with our deep desires, they will lead to the life we are meant to live.
Health Is the same, its not about magic, easy potions or quick fads. It’s about understanding the fundamental principles of our human body, mind, and spirit and then making wise choices aligned with our biology. It takes work, though with good support and strategy it is something we all deserve and can achieve!
I’m passionate about empowering others to take charge of their well-being, using my story and expertise to inspire and empower people worldwide. My mission is clear: to guide people to true health and happiness based on truth, and helping them live in alignment with their deepest truths
I am a passionate lifelong student, I value honesty, transparency and personal approach.
I offer many e-books to help people take charge of their health. May are all available on my website for free.
I am in a process of writing a book on How to “LIVE WELL: Clear, Inspiring Guide to help you feel confident about your choices towards well-being ” the name is not finalized yet so know it may slightly change.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
three words that come to mind immediately are:
adversity- adversities are a gift . they are lessons if you let them teach you! growing up in a lot of trauma, has been a gift in a way that made me be able to adapt and and also being able to always find a way, trust there is always a way. it has made me be more flexible in life. it has made me be more resourceful and made me be more in charge rather than fall victim to what i can not control! Its been a lot of work! A lot of therapies, coaching, hypnosis and different modalities and as I evolve, the work doesn’t stop, it changes, and it gets easier and easier to move through new challenges.
appreciation – for the smallest things in life! When i stay in the energy of appreciation I know all is going to be ok
work, trust and then let go of the wheel – this allows me to ease up and trust that everything evolves in the best interest for me. Knowing that sometimes letting go is allowing for the higher powers to create something even better than i can imagine right now
All of this takes consistent work.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would love to connect with other folks whose journey is to serve others, who are doers, movers and passionate about positively impacting other people’s lives. People who love to learn and are curious, and supportive. Authentic people with integrity who want to give to the world.
