We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adrienne Green a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrienne, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I had great examples of what could happen when you work hard and what would happen if you don’t. I was also a first-born child, so my mom held me to a high standard when it came to school and that just carried over into my professional life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a comedian, podcaster, and co-owner of WAJC Productions based in Big Spring, TX.
Through WAJC Productions, I’m able to produce The Green Bean Podcast with Adrienne and Matt. It’s about celebrating growth in business, craft, entrepreneurship, and personal development. I feel stories of growth don’t get shared enough. It feels good to celebrate the wins, but I feel it’s equally important to share the struggles that have been experienced along the way. It’s inspiring to know that other people have experienced the same kind of hardships and made it. I love sharing these stories through our guests.
As a comedian I love that I have an outlet to share my story that comes from being a daughter, sister, wife, dog mom, and friend. On the comedy side of WAJC, I’m able to provide opportunities for others to share their talent by producing comedy shows through WHAT A JOKE Comedy. Plus, it allows me to bring standup comedy to my community.
I currently produce a touring all-female comedy show called Galapalooza: A Fem-Powered Comedy Show with Stephanie SHONUF Spencer (Sho Room Comedy) and Selena Martinez (Laugh Hub City). These ladies are amazing to work with! They’re hilarious and have hustle and heart. They love what they do and it shows when they hit the stage. I am blessed to work with other women who are so good at what they do, and to have the support of my colleagues at WHAT A JOKE.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say being persistent, being able to learn from constructive criticism, and self-promotion.
My advice would be to not give up. Keep going. If you quit now, you’ll never know what could have been. It’s ok to take breaks in your journey but don’t give up.
Hearing criticism can be tough sometimes, but be honest with yourself and look for ways you can improve in your craft.
Self-promotion is a skill that gets overlooked a lot. I think a lot of people are waiting to be discovered by someone who has the power to change their life overnight, but there are so many avenues for people to do that on their own. Social media is a great way to find a following, stay connected, and communicate about what you have going on. Put yourself out there and do it repeatedly. You gotta be your biggest fan.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely! I would love to spotlight more female business owners on my podcast and collaborate with them as a sponsor of our Galapalooza tour! We’ve hit several cities in Texas and have had a great response to our show. Gaining sponsorships for the tour allows us to cover travel expenses while on the road and can be an opportunity for a business/brand to get their name out in front of our audiences.
