Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adrienne Lee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adrienne, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
I avoid burn outs by prioritizing my needs, releasing expectations, asserting boundaries and the need to feel like I have to stay busy to prove that I am busy . This topic really hits home because I am currently avoiding a burn out at this very moment. I decided to take a break from entrepreneurship . I have started living in the moment , prioritizing self care , enjoying the people I love and the things I worked hard for. After working my 9-5, being a mother , wife , attending to my own needs and entrepreneurship I would find myself depleted . I had to really pull my energy back and assert healthy boundaries no matter who it offended . So now I have a healthier routine for myself , I read more , journal more , I avoid low vibrational people and things. I get plenty of rest, enjoy my own company and really dive deep into self care. I revisited some of my old hobbies I use to love when I was in high school that I stopped doing. Being healthy isn’t just a physical thing it’s a mental thing as well .
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Adrienne Lee , I am from Coldwater Mississippi and reside in Southaven Mississippi . In 2005, I graduated from Coldwater High School. I attended Northwest Community College 2007 through 2009 and majored in computer information systems. I took a break to focus on other things that I was passionate about . I got married to my best friend Jan 22, 2011 and started a family . With being a mom of 3 , I found interest in wanting to educate and help children between the ages 1-4yrs old . So I went back to college and got my certification in childcare . However, I always kept Fashion & Style in my pocket despite doing a host of other things. Since I was 16 I always knew I wanted to work and be apart of the fashion world. I love being able to dress others as well as myself. It’s a passion of mine and comes natural to me. When you look good you feel good . I originally launched Classy Laundry July 2014, after trial and error I successfully re-launched July 2021. I have been in my bag since . I also capture my own pictures and do my own promotional flyers for my growing business . When it comes to my business name , I always knew I wanted to have a catchy name that described who I am “classy”. So instead of adding “clothing” behind classy I substituted for “laundry” and it clicked . I’m most proud of my ability to thrive no matter what life throws at me and remain emotionally intelligent. I love that I don’t let social media rush me into thinking if I’m not always busy I’m not doing nothing at all. Self care will always be my number one priority besides being a mother and wife . I wear a lot of hats and I thank God for balance through it all. What sets me apart is my creativeness , my authenticity and style . I provide trendy laundry while giving a fine line between class , chic , style and s*x appeal. I find solutions for people like myself that’s looking for a different style that’s not like everyone else . I will be releasing new items later this year until then I will be enjoying my break unless my mind changes .
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Prioritize your needs , assert healthy boundaries and do not care what others think of you. Always be yourself no matter what that looks like to others . You have to have thick skin in this wicked world . Projections are a real thing you don’t have to do anything to have someone project onto you because they don’t feel good about themselves . The same things that someone loves about you can be the same thing that makes them dislike you .
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I pace myself and tell myself that life is not a race . If I get this done I get it done if I don’t I don’t especially if it’s depleting me . So really just sticking to prioritizing needs , learning to say no and getting the proper rest .
