Meet Adrienne Reyes

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adrienne Reyes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Adrienne, thank you so much for joining us today and appreciate you talking about a sensitive topic. It’s unfortunately relevant to so many in the community as layoffs have been on the rise recently, and so we’d appreciate hearing your story and how you overcame being let go?

This has been an ongoing lesson for me the past year. A year ago, I took my first ever stress leave from work. The toxic work environment and my boss were impacting both my physical and mental health. So I took that time to pour into myself. I scheduled appointments with doctors, found a holistic dentist, saw a chiropractor for the first time, scheduled appointments with therapists and continued to see my acupuncturist. On the metaphysical side, I was working with various healers to work on my spiritual body. I underwent a huge purge to remove material and habitual things that were still tied to the old me. I also elevated myself by taking courses to learn new and different things, reading books, diving into podcasts for self-betterment. I started meditating daily, went sober and really to care of all aspects of my being. So when I returned to the workforce 5 months later, I felt like a new me. Different aspects of work were still triggering but I did so much innerwork that although the conditions of my work environment and my boss didn’t change, I did. And I no longer allowed for it to affect me like it did. What I did notice is that it felt different. I was keeping myself in a place that was secure for me the past 21 years but it was no longer in alignment with the person I was becoming. So when I received my RIF (reduction in force) notice on August 8th of this year, I felt freed. I felt a weight come off. I wasn’t sad or upset or resentful or even worried about the future. The work I did on myself the past year prepared me for this moment. It’s what I have been subconsciously asking for and the nudge I need to propel me to follow my true purpose at this moment in time. I am still in the transition period. It can be scary at times but I am continuing to work on myself and utilize the tools I gained over the past year. It’s not a race to my next chapter, so I am learning ease, to have patience, to have grace with myself and trust in the divine that all will work out for my highest good.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Three is a magic number.

Which begins with my most important role in this life – being a mother to 3 teenage daughters. One thing I knew I always wanted to be was a mother and I’m pretty damn good at it too. Everything I create and do in life is for my girls and to be the best example for them to follow their passions, break out of the mold, be wonderful human beings and be their authentic selves. Being a mother is a large part of my identity, which is why for all other facets of my life, I extend a loving, nurturing, protective energy in my businesses, endeavors, as well as personal and professional relationships.

Going back to the number 3…so, I run three businesses.

#1 – maskipops by adri is my home baking business that began as a creative, therapeutic outlet. A lot of my journey has been about healing and bouncing back from shortcomings that when I reflect back on it, I realize that it was divine redirection. Life gave me lemons and I turn it into cake pops! Cake pops was the dessert that started it all which opened doors for me to work with Patron Spirits, Casamigos, Sony Animation, MGM+ as well as with event planners with celebrity clientele. More recently, I worked with Mulholland Harley-Davidson on their recent premiere event.

#2 – Sacred House LA is a business I started with my mother Joyce Reyes. We are a tag team of Pranic Healers bringing healing to various events, pop-ups as well as virtual sessions. Pranic Healing is a no-touch healing modality that uses prana (or life force energy) to heal the aura body which in turn heals the physical and emotional body. My specialty is healing spaces, dogs and helping those on their weightloss journey. Sacred House LA has also partnered with Wendy Urena of The Curvy Chica Brujita to offer Pranic Healing Sound Baths.

#3 – Lastly my 501(c)(3), Life Force Kitchen. How this all started…I’ve been following Feed the Streets LA for a long time. Dropping off donations and sending contributions. And I remember seeing a couple years ago that they had the volunteers ready to serve but not enough food to feed the streets. So I rallied my family together to cook during the holidays. In order to continue cooking for the streets, Life Force Kitchen was formed. But it’s not just food we provide – we infused the food with Pranic Healing energy. Root word prana which means life force, which is what inspired our namesake. Our non-profit’s board of directors, the volunteers, chefs, drivers, food shoppers – our family members. Our operations are small and intimate but we strive to make a huge, lasting impact.

Upcoming Event: The Valley Spiritual Plug 818 Healing Festival on Saturday September 28,2024 in Canoga Park

The Curvy Chica Brujita + Sacred House LA comprise Valley Spiritual Plug – a community-centric organization that shares and uplifts fellow WOC. Valley Spiritual Plug 818 Healing Festival was created to champion the community makers and shakers by offering a space to showcase their talent and creativity while providing healing modalities, support and celebrating all that is good.

I hope that you reading this feel inspired to go for it. It’s not going to look like what anyone else has done and that is your secret sauce. Seeing your idea come to life is one of the greatest joys and blessings. My experience with being a business owner is that it has given me to confidence to know I can accomplish anything I sent my mind to, I have to find a balance with discipline and rest, community is needed, and that the most important thing is to have fun.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

#1 – REST. Burnout is real. Refuel and recharge yourself as often as needed. You run this.

#2 – SURRENDER. Do the work. Both physical work and inner work then let it go. There is magic in the work you do and also in the unseen. Surrendering means you have 100% trust that what is meant for you will come to you. That the key to manifestation.

#3 – GIVE. You must give to receive what you want. Want money? Donate to a charitable cause. Need help? Be of service to another. Need to level up? Mentor someone. Whatever it is that you need and offer, it’s important to remember to have an attitude of gratitude.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

The 5am Club by Robin Sharma

I have this tendency to start a book and not finish. This one I read cover to cover. It was the message I needed to hear at the time.

– “Own your morning. Elevate your life.” 5am is the magic hour before the rest of the world wakes up and you already have a head start by doing 3 things.

– “All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.” 100.

– Journal. (I need to do this more.) A mystic in Sedona shared a beautiful thing about journaling that I want to share with you. Your hand if you follow through your arm, connects to your heart. Journaling is words from your heart. Let it speak.
