Meet Adrienne Smith

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adrienne Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adrienne below.

Adrienne, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I believe purpose is the driving force and reason behind everything that you do. It’s what brings you the greatest fulfillment. I found my purpose through serving in ministry and helping others. Whether it’s through the music I create, the songs that I sing, the books that I write or the events that I host. My sole purpose is to be a light pointing others to Jesus. Knowing that life with Christ is better.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Wife, Mother of 3 beautiful girls, Singer-Song Writer, Ministry leader and Author. In this season of my life God has placed a burden on my heart to be of service to Moms by providing support, a safe place of community and spirituality; thus birthed my organization Moms on a Mission. Also through this process evolved my first book that was recently released “Mom I Got You: 31 Days of Gods promises for Mothers, available on Amazon. This book is a 31 day devotional for mothers that is designed to uplift, inspire, and renew your spirit. Each day provides a piece of wisdom, a reflection of strength and a prayer of hope; allowing you to find solace and a sense of companionship in the shared experiences of motherhood.

If you were to ask me years ago what my purpose was and what I would be doing, it wouldn’t have looked anything like this. I would have said something along the lines of being a singer and or worship leader traveling the world. Which is something that I still do to this day but there was more for me to unfold. There was more to my story. This is where I was comfortable. The thing about God and what you discover about purpose is that it is found when you least expect it, and on the most unlikely of journeys.

What I’ve learned through this season of my life is to remain flexible and obedient to the voice of God because what He has for me is bigger than what I could think or ever imagine. Through this process I have discovered talents and gifts that I otherwise wouldn’t have if I didn’t decide to step out on faith and pivot. Now I am writing books, and hosting events for women and mothers. I have now tapped into a side of me that was once hidden out of fear and I wish for every woman and person to experience the freedom of stepping out and living a purpose driven life.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
3 qualities that has helped me on my journey is one, believing in myself. If you don’t believe in what you have to offer you can’t expect anyone else to believe in you. You also can’t expect others to support something that you are unsure of. So you first have to have self confidence and belief in your own ability. You must believe that you are able and capable, and that you have everything that you need on the inside of you to succeed. Secondly, faith because hard times are going to come but with faith it sustains you during difficult moments to keep pushing through. When things don’t look like what you expected and when it seems like your journey has taken a wrong turn lean into your faith to guide you forward. Lastly I would say is maintain a good work ethic in whatever you are doing. Whether I am on stage singing, or at home with my babies, or writing my next book excellence is always the goal. Let everything you do be done with a spirit of excellence and greatness. There are no short cuts in life and in order for something to be established and maintain it must be built upon excellence.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
A book that has played a role in my development that I’ve read recently is “Permission to Live Free” by Dr. Jackie Greene. In this book she encourages women to relinquish fear and to live out your purpose by fully embracing who God has called you to be. Through this book I have found courage to be authentically me. The woman that God created me to be flaws and all. He chose me exactly the way that I am with a specific plan and purpose for my life. I no longer walk around shrinking or making unnecessary accommodations to appease others. I no longer live in fear of my calling or of what others think about me. I no longer back down to challenges. I no longer let others dictate my future because God has given me permission to live a free purpose driven life.
My hope is that on this journey of self discovery and purpose is that you find the courage to be authentically who God has called you to be. You already have permission to be great!
