Meet Agam Saigal

We were lucky to catch up with Agam Saigal recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Agam , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from struggle, adaptation, and an inner drive to push forward no matter the circumstances. Being the child of immigrants and growing up in Grind City itself—Memphis—taught me that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back; it’s about continuously finding a way forward.

I see resilience as a muscle—if you don’t use it, you lose it. Struggle fuels the grind, and without adversity, there’s no real purpose to push harder. My resilience was shaped through moments like graduating undergrad in just three years, only to step into the job market during the Great Recession of 2008, where applying to countless jobs resulted in radio silence. I’ve faced rejection in competitive industries, asked myself how to improve, pivoted into fields I knew nothing about, and ultimately made a name for myself in marketing and strategy.

In 2020, I took another leap—moving to Nashville right before COVID, without a job. The sheer volume of doubt from friends and family when pursuing new ideas can be overwhelming, but for me, it only fuels the fire to keep pushing forward. After working with billion-dollar companies in high-level roles, I was re-humbled by helping my parents at their liquor store and doing Instacart deliveries—a stark contrast that gave me a deep appreciation for the grind of ALL people, regardless of their job or circumstances.

Resilience, to me, is about working in good faith, staying uncomfortable, and always pushing beyond what’s expected. It’s about seeing setbacks as setups for comebacks—and making sure every challenge is a stepping stone to something greater.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to build Menscape Nashville into what it is today. While Thomas and Samantha provide top-tier services to our clients, I spend most of my time talking with clients before and after appointments, improving the business, and planning for future growth.

We’re one of a kind in Nashville because we specialize in men’s full-body waxing, body hair grooming, facials, tinting, and body treatments—a space in men’s self-care that’s often overlooked. Now entering year four, it’s surreal to look back and realize how far we’ve come, and we’re excited to keep evolving. This year, we’re expanding our offerings to include men’s pedicures, manicures, and massage services, further cementing ourselves as Nashville’s go-to destination for men’s grooming and self-care.

What Makes Us Different?
• We’re Nashville’s only men’s full-body grooming and spa specialist. Other spas may offer men’s services, but we’ve built every detail of our business around male clients—from the services we provide to the atmosphere we create.
• We are proudly a tip-free spa. We believe in paying our staff fairly, so clients can enjoy their experience without the awkwardness of calculating gratuity at checkout.
• We’ve built an establishment that genuinely connects with the community around us. We proudly partner with PazonaMD and the Nashville Humane Association to donate sheets, and we’ve taken sustainability a step further by recycling hard-to-dispose materials like gloves and waxing tins through TerraCycle. Our commitment goes beyond grooming—we strive to make a positive impact both locally and environmentally.
• We serve a diverse clientele, from CEOs to musicians, athletes to college students, and everyday dads. We see men of all ages, ethnicities, and professions—including clients who fly in from out of state because they can’t find a place like this anywhere else. Some guys come in before big events, some are just tired of their back hair getting roasted by their kids, and others simply want to look and feel their best. No two clients are the same, and that’s what makes this so rewarding.

At Menscape Nashville, we’ve created more than just a grooming place—we’ve built a space where men feel comfortable investing in self-care without the stigma. And we’re just getting started.

Outside of grooming and self-care services, we’ve always built connections. Because we spend more time with our clients than most traditional barbershops or spas, we’ve had the unique opportunity to really listen and understand their experiences beyond just self-care.

A common thread we’ve found among many of our clients is that their challenges go beyond grooming—whether it’s navigating relationships, struggling with fitness goals, dealing with back acne, or simply working on their confidence. In one way or another, it all ties back to a bigger theme: connection and loneliness.

We don’t have the answer to solving this just yet, but it’s something we’re deeply interested in. The more we talk to our clients, the more we realize that self-care is about more than just looking good—it’s about feeling good, inside and out. We’re honored to provide a space where men can take care of themselves, have real conversations, and feel comfortable in their own skin.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I believe the three most essential qualities for an entrepreneur—especially one focused on building something meaningful rather than just another business—are curiosity, resilience, and humility.

1. Curiosity – The best entrepreneurs are endlessly curious. It’s what drives you to question, experiment, and refine solutions—not just for the sake of innovation, but to genuinely improve the experience for both clients and staff. Without curiosity, businesses become stagnant, operating on assumptions rather than insight.

How to Develop It: Never stop asking why—why something works, why it doesn’t, why a client behaves a certain way, or why an industry operates as it does. Read, observe, test, and most importantly, listen to the people you serve including clients and staff.

2. Resilience – In the entrepreneurial world, failure isn’t an “if” but a “when.” Things will fall apart—whether it’s financial setbacks, unexpected business challenges, or moments of self-doubt. Resilience is what pushes you through when everything seems to be working against you.

How to Develop It: Learn to reframe failure as part of the process. Every challenge is either a lesson or an opportunity to pivot. Surround yourself with people who have overcome adversity, and remind yourself that setbacks don’t define you—your response to them does.

3. Humility – The entrepreneurial world is filled with ego and overconfidence, but the most impactful businesses are built by people who listen more than they talk. The moment you think you know it all, you stop growing.

How to Develop It: Stay open to feedback, even when it’s uncomfortable. Your clients and your team are your greatest teachers. Some feedback will be valuable, some won’t—but the ability to filter out the noise while embracing what truly matters is what allows you to evolve.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that the best solutions aren’t built in isolation—they’re shaped by listening, adapting, and constantly striving to be better.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Feeling overwhelmed is a constant reality in the entrepreneurial world, much more than I initially expected. There’s always a flood of tasks—from planning future services and marketing strategies to ensuring my team is happy and our clients are well taken care of. The sheer volume can be a lot, but I’ve learned that getting those thoughts out of my head and into the open is key. Whether it’s writing things down, talking to a therapist, mentor, or close friend, simply verbalizing the stress prevents it from spiraling into endless rumination.

At times, I’ve struggled with analysis paralysis, where so much needs to be done that it feels like nothing is progressing. What’s helped is zooming out—taking a step back to reflect on how far we’ve come and where we’re headed. It’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day grind, but looking at the bigger picture often reignites my motivation. I also tap into resources beyond myself—YouTube, Reddit, and entrepreneur-focused communities are filled with insights that can reframe challenges and help build better experiences for both clients and my team.

One of the most powerful things I’ve discovered is the importance of stepping away—whether it’s a day each week to brain dump thoughts, engage in a hobby, or simply disconnect from work. The cliché about having your best ideas in the shower? It’s real. When you give your mind the space to breathe, it naturally connects ideas in unexpected ways, leading to better solutions, sharper marketing campaigns, and fresh approaches to challenges.

That said, fully disconnecting is my eternal struggle, but I see it as a work in progress. It isn’t possible to eliminate stress entirely—it’s to manage it in a way that fuels progress instead of hindering it.
