We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Agnes Chau. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Agnes below.
Agnes , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
When I was going through my divorce, I was at a low point in my life. My self-esteem and self-confidence were at an all-time low. I learned that one in three women may be attacked in their lifetime and it was important for me to stop living in fear and learn self-defense. Joining the Women Empowered program at a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Certified Training Center changed my life for the better. My self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-love all boosted within a year. After mastering the 20 techniques in the Women Empowered Program to defend myself from potential attacks from strangers and non-strangers, I earned my pink belt and then became a certified instructor. The wonderful feeling of empowerment that I experienced is now shared through my nonprofit’s activities. The Empowered Heart, Inc., sponsors women in their self-defense journey. Our volunteer instructors teach at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Certified Training Centers and we offer group seminars.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a transformation coach with Agnes Chau LLC, I offer life-transforming modalities, such as PSYCH-K® to help clients succeed in all aspects of life. PSYCH-K® is a process to reprogram the subconscious mind to align with the conscious mind’s goals. 95% of our lives are on autopilot, controlled by our subconscious minds. PSYCH-K® has been around for over 34 years and has helped over 100 thousand people restore their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. With my engineering background and my training in several modalities, I help clients find the most efficient and effective methods to get to the root of problems quickly, clear away the self-sabotage at the subconscious level, and achieve their goals.
Readers may benefit from the free resources found on my website https://www.agneschaullc.com/, including articles, podcasts, and free brain health questionnaires to help one understand how one’s thinking and feelings are connected with different parts of the brain and to know that one can improve one’s brain health at any age.
Through my nonprofit, The Empowered Heart, Inc., I gift transformation sessions to veterans of the Angels 14 community of veterans and allies. While my transformation coaching business works with individuals, my nonprofit, The Empowered Heart, Inc. works with groups and has offered Empowered Heart Circles to teach people how to meditate in minutes, let go of stress and anxiety, and feel a sense of peace from within. We also offer self-defense training to women through Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Certified Training Centers and sponsor women in their self-defense journey.
Readers may benefit from the one-minute Breathing Through The Heart meditation and the video on non-stranger attack strategies to be aware of. Both can be found at https://www.theempoweredheart.org/.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In my journey, the most important quality has been a willingness to embrace learning beyond what is taught in school. As a lifelong learner, I enjoy gaining new knowledge and reinventing myself. My advice for folks early in their journey is to continue learning in different areas of life. By learning, one also develops cognitive resilience. This is the brain’s ability to bounce back faster when one encounters setbacks.
The most important skill has been to learn how to communicate effectively to understand others and to be understood. My advice is to join groups like National Speakers Association to be a better communicator. This means being open to feedback to improve oneself because the ability to communicate well can improve one’s life and influence other people’s lives for the better.
Connecting with one’s superconscious, the Higher Self, has been most impactful in my journey. By breathing into one’s Divine Heart, one can connect with Divine Intelligence within that is connected with Divine Source. The Higher Self is the 24 x 7 counselor that has our back always. While we may hear the ego mind, the inner child, or different archetypes at play, each doing their role, it is the Higher Self that helps us align with our Divine Paths. For folks who are early in their journey, developing this loving connection aligns one with one’s life purpose and creates peace from within.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The book, “The Power of TED* (*the Empowerment Dynamic)” by David Emerald has played a significant role in my development. The book offers an antidote to the Dreaded Drama Triangle that plays out often in all aspects of life. When I read this book, I realized that I had been living in victimhood in many aspects of my life. The book helped me see that I had a choice in how I viewed any given situation. The antidote to the dreaded drama triangle with the roles of victim, persecutor, and rescuer, is The Empowerment Dynamic, with the roles of creator, challenger, and coach. The power comes from knowing that one has a choice in embracing the drama story or the empowerment story. It starts with awareness. Readers can find a summary of the tools offered in this life-changing book in my article https://www.brainzmagazine.com/post/the-power-of-choice-is-yours-drama-or-empowerment.
