Meet Ahmet Amanov

We recently connected with Ahmet Amanov and have shared our conversation below.

Ahmet, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from starting over in a new country and learning how to adapt, grow, and build a future from the ground up. When I came to the United States, nothing was familiar — the language, the culture, the education system, even the smallest things required learning again. Balancing school, work, and supporting my family pushed me to develop discipline and patience very quickly.

Soccer has also shaped my resilience. Growing up playing and later coaching taught me how to handle pressure, stay calm in difficult moments, and keep moving even when things don’t go the way you expect. In sports, you learn that progress comes from consistency, not perfection — I’ve applied that mindset to every part of my life.

Most importantly, my resilience comes from my family. Seeing how much they believe in me gives me the strength to push through challenges, stay focused, and keep improving. Every obstacle I’ve faced here has made me stronger and more committed to building a meaningful life and career.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m currently focused on building a career at the intersection of technology, automation, and community development. Professionally, I work as an IT specialist and back-end developer, where I build secure, reliable systems using PHP, REST APIs, and database-driven architectures. I enjoy solving real problems for real people — whether it’s optimizing a workflow, improving system performance, or supporting users with complex technical issues.

Alongside my career in tech, I’m developing a long-term project called SoccerStatConnect — a platform that blends youth soccer development with data analytics. Growing up around soccer taught me discipline and teamwork, and now I’m excited to combine that passion with technology. The goal is to give young athletes, especially in smaller communities like Montana, access to the same tools and insights used at higher levels of the sport.

What makes my work meaningful is the balance between technical innovation and community impact. Whether I’m building an automation in n8n, creating backend solutions, or designing a system that helps coaches track player progress, I focus on making something that genuinely improves people’s lives.

Right now, I’m actively expanding my skills, preparing for new certifications, and exploring opportunities to bring my projects to a larger audience. My main goal is to continue growing in the IT field while also developing SoccerStatConnect into a resource that supports kids, coaches, and families across the region.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were adaptability, consistency, and curiosity.

1. Adaptability
Moving to a new country and starting from zero required constant adjustment. Whether it was learning a new language, navigating the education system, or building a career in IT, adaptability helped me stay calm and find solutions instead of getting stuck. My advice for others: don’t fear change — train yourself to embrace it. Every new environment will teach you something valuable.

2. Consistency
Success didn’t come from big moments, but from showing up every single day. Whether I was studying computer science, improving my English, or learning new technologies, steady progress mattered more than perfection. For anyone early in their journey: build small habits you can repeat daily. Consistency is what separates “wishing” from “achieving.”

3. Curiosity & Continuous Learning
Technology moves fast, and I learned early that the only way to grow is to stay curious. From backend development to automation tools and analytics, I pushed myself to learn things that expanded my opportunities. My advice: stay open, experiment often, and never stop learning — curiosity is the engine that keeps your career moving forward.

These three qualities helped me navigate challenges, grow personally and professionally, and build a foundation I can keep expanding in the future.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

The people who have helped me the most on my journey are my family and a few key mentors who believed in me long before I fully believed in myself. Moving to a new country comes with challenges that don’t always show on the surface — learning the language, adapting to a new culture, studying, working, and trying to build a future from scratch. My family’s support gave me the strength and motivation to keep going on the toughest days.

I’ve also been fortunate to learn from professors, colleagues, and leaders in the tech community who pushed me to think bigger. They taught me not just technical skills, but how to stay curious, how to stay patient with the learning process, and how to build confidence in my abilities.

Their guidance helped me develop the qualities that shaped my career: resilience, discipline, and a genuine desire to improve every day. My advice for others is simple — surround yourself with people who challenge you in a positive way, who want to see you grow, and who remind you of your potential when you forget it yourself.
