Meet Aida Karapetian

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aida Karapetian. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aida below.

Hi Aida, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity has its roots in the sincerity of my heart. In this tumultuous world, I find that practicing generosity is a beacon for peace. Every step I take is guided by a spirit of kindness, setting the stage for positivity to flourish. My mom, a profoundly generous soul, has been a significant influence on me. This commitment to generosity echoes through my family’s history; my dad, upon marrying my mom, was deeply moved by her altruism and eagerness to assist others.

Generosity, coupled with intellect, happiness, and a tranquil heart and mind, forms the essence of my values. I hold great admiration for individuals who embody the spirit of generosity. Fortunately, I am surrounded by friends and people who share this quality, contributing to a circle of positivity and goodwill.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m Aida Karapetian, a seasoned realtor based in Los Angeles, and my journey into real estate is a blend of personal resilience and professional discovery.

Hailing from my home country, I made a direct transition to New York, navigating significant challenges, including the hardships of past marriages and unexpected, difficult situations. These experiences ultimately shaped me into a person of strength, confidence, and deep understanding.

As an average immigrant, my early journey involved a diverse range of jobs—from being a cleaning lady, hostess worker, and cashier to a seamless lady, waitress, restaurant manager, and soul force. Each role contributed to my growth and understanding of different facets of life.

My appreciation for authenticity and kindness forms the core of my business philosophy. I firmly believe that to assist people effectively, one must be not only a great professional but, above all, a good human being. This principle guides every aspect of my work.

Before venturing into real estate, I held two master’s degrees and worked as an event planner in Russia, organizing government events. Transitioning seamlessly into Los Angeles real estate, I brought with me a passion for creating connections and memorable experiences.

In addition to my personal growth, I’ve honed my professional skills. Proficient in digital marketing, I recognize the influence of the modern world on real estate practices. Today, the industry demands strategic promotion and effective selling techniques. My sharpened knowledge in real estate positions me as the go-to professional to successfully assist people in buying and selling properties.

Specializing in guiding sellers, first-time homebuyers, and clients relocating, I excel in assisting foreign clients and navigating challenges like expired listings. Real estate, for me, is more than just sales—it’s my life. I put my heart into every transaction as if I were doing it for myself. My approach involves building personal connections with clients, aiming to foster lasting relationships.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, three pivotal aspects stand out: resilience, gratitude, and hard work. Life’s challenges, especially the negative experiences, played a significant role in shaping my path. For instance, my quick marriage taught me the value of freedom, leading to a swift end. Despite the limitations and hardships, these struggles taught me to find joy in simple things and appreciate the everyday wonders around us.

A defining moment in my journey occurred when I transitioned from a lavish home in Long Island, New York, to a humble living room in LA. Despite the downgrade, I embraced gratitude, realizing that true happiness stems from belonging to oneself and having control over one’s destiny.

My advice to those early in their journey is rooted in these lessons. Firstly, practice gratitude; being thankful opens doors to even more blessings. Secondly, hard work is the foundation of success. Don’t be disheartened by initial outcomes; believe in your journey, stay consistent, and success will follow. Lastly, resilience is key. Learn from challenges, adapt, and use setbacks as stepping stones toward personal growth.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was consistently provide unwavering support and dedication throughout my life. From my earliest childhood memories, both my sister and I experienced a level of commitment that went beyond the norm—150% in terms of time, money, and effort. Their focus was always on enriching our lives through various activities, including daily engagement in foreign language studies, figure skating, dancing, and drawing.

This steadfast commitment to our success and growth has left a lasting imprint on my journey. It’s not just about the specific activities but the profound dedication they showed in every aspect of our lives. Their approach instilled in me a strong work ethic, a passion for continuous learning, and a deep appreciation for various forms of expression.

Reflecting on the countless hours they invested in our development, I am genuinely grateful for the sacrifices they made. It goes beyond the tangible activities; it’s about the consistent support, encouragement, and belief in our potential. I believe this level of dedication, where parents go above and beyond to nurture their children’s talents and interests, is among the most impactful and invaluable gifts a parent can bestow upon their offspring.
