We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aimée & Celine. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aimée & Celine below.
Aimée & Celine, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Home organizing might seem like a rigid, formulaic process. People often assume that we’re hardasses because of the nature of the work. In reality, Aimée and I are both creative and original as people. Aimée majored in fine arts and is an incredible illustrator. I’m a musician; I play guitar, write music and sing.
Our artistic backgrounds are critical to sort it out’s operation. Every client is different. Every space is unique. We’re constantly problem-solving on the fly to successfully weave our recommendations as professional organizers into the lives of our clients and their everyday routines.
Sometimes we’ll have a plan in our heads and then learn that the client has a specific need to work around. For example, we had a client whose dog was very fond of eating anything and everything within reach. Did we use labels to tell the dog to move along? No. Because dogs can’t read. We made a toy station at the dog’s eye level so he could still chew and play but couldn’t get into any harmful chemicals.
Inventiveness is of utmost importance in our work. Our talent for collaboration, problem-solving and adaptability allows us to remain creative.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Our professional organizing business is focused on empowering clients to declutter and de-stress. We connect on an individual level to understand them. It’s not just about alphabetizing or color-coding things, it’s about changing people’s lives. It’s about listening to their story, their pain points, what really grinds their gears day in and day out and taking a sledgehammer to those obstacles on their behalf. We’re here to destroy your anxiety.
The most rewarding and special aspect of our work is hearing our clients’ feedback. Their homes become easier to navigate. Their spaces make sense for them. Clients say things like, “Holy shit, how did you guys pull this off? It’s perfect,” and “I never would have thought to do it like that. Getting ready in the morning will be so much faster now. Thank God!”
Almost all of our clients come from word of mouth. So, not only are they telling us how awesome it feels to be organized, but they’re also sharing with their friends, families and colleagues about how we’ve changed their lives. And if that’s not special, we don’t know what is.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For 9 years, Aimée worked with high-profile artists in the music industry as a tour manager and production coordinator. The experience taught her how to be inventive under pressure. If the tour bus broke down, if the artist had a seemingly unattainable special request on their rider or if the entire crew got food poisoning, Aimée knew that the show must go on and masterfully made it happen every time. She applies those same skills to every organizing project.
Having worked in the nonprofit sector building online communities, I have a great deal of experience in client-facing roles. I found ways to connect with stakeholders to encourage their participation in virtual discussions. I also worked in childcare for many years, which takes a specific interpersonal communication skillset. As a result, I love talking to our clients and building relationships.
As far as advice, we cannot emphasize enough the importance of talking with your peers. Oh, you’re at a Friendsgiving? Bogart the conversation and don’t let anyone leave the table until they give their opinion on your logo. At your friend’s kid’s 3rd birthday party? Sounds like an opportunity to network. Your community is a trove of knowledge, especially if they don’t work in your industry and can provide an objective perspective or opinion.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Funny that you ask that because now more than ever we’re looking to collaborate with local companies.
Our goal is to cultivate a community made up of people and businesses whose mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives. Our clients ask us for referrals for carpenters, landscapers, housekeepers, interior decorators and the like. A key pillar of sort it out is acting as a resource for our clients. We want to be their one-stop shop for all things home improvement related.
