We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Airi Hachioji a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Airi, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I used to have a lot of insecurities about myself, and I wanted to help people who struggle with similar feelings. I realized that in order to share my thoughts and make a difference, I needed to have some influence. That’s why I started uploading videos of my daily life on YouTube.
l also try to create videos that make people who can’t travel for various reasons feel like they’re traveling with me, even just a little.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a lifestyle and travel content creator on YouTube. I share moments from my daily life in the U.S., as well as travel vlogs that take viewers to experience new places through my videos. What makes my work special is that I try to approach everything with honesty and empathy.
My goal is to create videos that people can relate to — especially those who may be struggling with insecurities or can’t easily travel due to different circumstances. Through my videos, I hope to bring comfort, positivity, and a sense of connection to everybody.
Right now, I’m focusing on expanding my “lifestyle in the US” series, showing unique spots, cultural differences, and hidden gems from my perspective as someone living abroad.
In the future, I hope to build more influence so I can share more deeply about my past insecurities and personal experiences — to encourage others who might be going through similar struggles.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I think the three most impactful qualities in my life have been self-acceptance, consistency, and empathy.
Learning to accept myself — including my insecurities — is the first step. Once I stopped comparing myself to others and focused on expressing who I am, my videos began to connect with people on a deeper level.
Consistency is also very important. There were many times when I didn’t see quick results, but continuing to create and share little by little helped me grow both personally and professionally.
And empathy — understanding how others might feel and creating contents that can comfort or inspire them — has always been at the heart of what I do.
For those who are just starting out, I’d say: don’t rush the process. Focus on discovering your true voice, keep learning, and remember that authenticity always speaks louder than perfection.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Two people have been especially helpful in my journey — my husband and my English teacher.
My husband has always supported me, especially when I faced self-doubt or challenges in adapting to a new environment. His encouragement helps me stay grounded and confident in what I do.
My English teacher has also had a big impact on me. She often introduces me to new experiences and people, which has really helped me grow. I used to be quite introverted, but thanks to her assistance, I’ve become more open-minded and outgoing.
I’m truly grateful to both of them for helping me step out of my comfort zone and believe in myself.
