Meet Aislan Adrian

We recently connected with Aislan Adrian and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Aislan , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

It’s an interesting question that made me think a lot now. Since I was a child, I’ve always believed that there was something inside me that I wanted to show the world, and it’s funny because I believe that when you have creative thinking, references about the path are not so clear. There’s the fear of the family who are afraid of the future, because when you deal with creativity, there are no guarantees. In my case, I spent a lot of time trying to understand my afflictions and accept that many times the path would be lonely, and that loneliness would be my only company. When I understood this, I took a deep breath and started to celebrate my achievements more, being happy for myself and happy with the impact I had on other people, even if no one was watching and applauding. Today I believe that my self-esteem and confidence come from the power to see my value even if other people don’t.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Well, I was born in Brazil, where I’ve spent my whole life, with a great deal of restlessness, always wanting to take a step further. I moved to Europe 3 years ago, two of which I lived in Portugal. Between studying, planning and “normal” jobs, I adapted. New customs, new climate, culture and food, and homesickness were endless challenges, but with long-term thinking, everything became clear. Over time, I met people who were aligned with my purpose and everything started to make sense. I made some progress in the artistic field in terms of networking and experience for my personal and professional life. In the last few months, I’ve been coming to London for short periods of study, alternating with short trips to some countries, both to visit and to develop, learn and pass on who I am. I hope to stay mentally healthy during my first London winter and use the dark days to transform them into small joys.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think what kept me on track and focused was resilience and long-term thinking, thinking about where I wanted to go and enjoying every little victory that came my way.
To think that whenever I lay down and think about the day, I remember that I did my best is a good starting plan. Always doing the best with what you have is key.
Doing your best won’t always bring you money, fame or applause, but doing your best is the only thing that is possible.
My advice is to be true to yourself, no matter how fast things happen. Listen to the noise within and always silence the noise of the world. And finally, in my opinion, the most important thing is to know how to embrace and accept defeats. Many times, no matter how good your decisions are, they will push people away and that will hurt. But the important thing is to have the clarity to stop, think and accept that everything was done with good intentions.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

The biggest challenge right now is keeping a calm mind, today we are bombarded with so much information, and selecting what to watch is a challenge. Social networks often set trends and we tend to follow them to be part of a whole. But not everything works for us and even if it did, there is no guarantee of inner peace, this is the biggest challenge to remain true to myself always.
But there is one issue within this, that being true to yourself often means being away from many people and that is the challenge, finding balance. Keeping a healthy mind in the face of so many challenges, daily I think that is the challenge I am facing at the moment, but I believe that I have had some mental victories even in the face of some defeats in life. That’s life!
