We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aiyana Lewis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aiyana below.
Aiyana, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic has been shaped by the incredible influence of my mother, who stands out as my ultimate source of inspiration. From an early age, observing her tireless commitment to excellence and her relentless pursuit of goals has been a guiding force in my life. It’s not just about the work she did, but how she approached it, consistently going above and beyond expectations.
The emphasis on discipline and consistency was another key takeaway from my mother’s influence. Setting high standards and continually striving for improvement were principles she instilled in me. Her approach was holistic, transcending the boundaries of the workplace and passing into personal growth and relationships.
Essentially, my mother’s unshakeable work ethic has become the cornerstone of my professional philosophy. The commitment to hard work, dedication to excellence, and the ability to surmount challenges are principles that I carry with me daily. Her life lessons continue to inspire me, propelling me to pursue success with faithful dedication in all aspects of my personal and professional life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hey there! My name is Aiyana, some people call me Yani. I am a 21-year-old portrait and fashion photographer based in the beautiful state of Colorado. I’ve been behind the lens for over six years now, capturing moments and stories through my unique perspective.
What I do is more than just snapping pictures; it’s about capturing the essence of individuals and the energy of the moment. Being a black female artist in the field, I bring my own experiences and cultural influences into my work, creating a narrative that resonates with authenticity.
What gets me stoked about my craft is the ability to freeze time and tell stories through images. Photography, for me, is a form of self-expression and a way to highlight the beauty of diversity. It’s not just about the technicalities but about connecting with people and creating art that speaks to them.
As for what’s new, I’m constantly evolving my style and exploring new creative avenues. I’ve got some exciting projects in the pipeline, including collaborations and events that include a plethora of Denver’s most talented models & artists. So, stay tuned for more snapshots of life through my lens – there’s always something fresh and exciting happening in my world!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey so far, three key things stand out: passion, resilience, and a thirst for learning. First off, passion has been my driving force. Loving what I do has kept me motivated through the highs and lows. When you’re passionate, the late nights and hard work don’t feel like a chore; they’re part of the journey toward something you truly care about.
Resilience is another game-changer. There were times when things didn’t go as planned, clients didn’t come through, or creative blocks hit hard. But bouncing back from setbacks, learning from failures, and adapting to challenges has been crucial. It’s about staying in the game even when the road gets bumpy.
And then there’s the constant hunger to learn. The photography & technology world evolves fast, and staying updated on the latest trends, techniques, and technology has been vital. Whether it’s experimenting with new styles or diving into post-production skills, continuous learning keeps my work fresh.
For those just starting out, my advice is simple. Find your passion and let it drive you – it’ll be your North Star. Embrace challenges and setbacks; they’re opportunities to grow. And never stop learning. Attend workshops, connect with other creatives, and soak up knowledge like a sponge. The more you know, the more versatile and resilient you become in this ever-evolving creative landscape. It’s a journey, not a race – enjoy every step!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
