We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ajaé Moore. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ajaé below.
Ajaé, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I keep my creativity alive by staying curious and open to discovering new concepts that push the boundaries of my understanding. I pay attention to details—like the specific tones of a hue, or the texture of a material—and ask myself how these elements make me feel or what they evoke. Growing up with a music background, I’m particularly attuned to sound, focusing on how certain notes, rhythms, and styles create a mood or shift energy in a space.
Play is also an essential part of my creative process. Whether through board games, video games, or card games, allowing my mind to be in a light, unrestricted state helps new ideas flow naturally. Sometimes, it’s in these playful moments that I stumble upon the most concepts, reminding me that creativity often comes from letting go and letting your mind wander freely.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Spreading the Word About My Brand:
I’m Ajaé Moore, and I specialize in creating immersive, luxury sensory experiences through my events, candles, and artistic productions. My brand focuses on elevating ordinary moments into extraordinary memories by merging visual artistry, custom candle scents, and ambient soundscapes into high-end, intimate events. Whether it’s a private candle-making workshop or a curated dining experience, my aim is to captivate all the senses.
What excites me most about what I do is the ability to bring people into a world that engages their emotions and senses in a unique way. Every element—lighting, music, scents, and even textures—is thoughtfully designed to evoke specific feelings and create lasting impressions. This sets my work apart, making it not just an event, but a journey for those involved.
Professionally, I’m focused on expanding my candle collection into boutiques and wine stores, where I believe the sensory and luxury aspects of my brand align perfectly with their clientele. I’m also working on a series of exclusive events—like “Candlelight Épicure”—that combine fine dining, sensory engagement, and artisanal craftsmanship.
What’s new for my brand? I’m launching more collaborative events, like a multi-sensory sound bath experience with singing bowls and a wellness focus, as well as expanding my virtual candle-making masterclass, which offers themed workshops that are both educational and transformative.
My goal is to continue growing while maintaining the high level of intimacy and luxury that my brand is known for, ensuring that every guest walks away with an unforgettable experience.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Creativity: This is the cornerstone of everything I do. Creativity fuels the passion behind my work and allows me to develop other skills along the way. For those early in their journey, I advise fostering creativity by exploring different environments and seeking inspiration from all aspects of life. It’s essential to keep that fire alive, as creativity can be the catalyst for growth in many areas.
Communication: Being able to clearly communicate my ideas—whether visually, verbally, or through the sensory experiences I create has been critical. Strong communication opens doors, helps build relationships, and allows you to express your vision in a way that resonates with others.
Adaptability: The journey is never linear. Being able to adapt and evolve, especially in creative fields, is vital. It helps you stay relevant and allows you to navigate challenges as they come. I advise others to remain open to change, continue learning, and be willing to pivot when necessary.
If I had to offer advice to someone new in their journey, it would be to seek out mentors and immerse yourself in the environments you want to be in. Networking and surrounding yourself with people who inspire you is one of the fastest ways to grow. Be a sponge for information and don’t hesitate to ask questions.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been learning to give myself grace to rest. As an entrepreneur, there’s always a sense that time is limited and there’s always something else that needs to be done. However, I’ve allowed myself to embrace self-care by recognizing when I need a break. Whether it’s taking a yoga class to center my mind, getting a massage, or going to see a movie on a random Tuesday night, these small acts of self-care have become essential.
Resting has helped me avoid burnout and given me the energy and focus to keep pushing forward, with more clarity and balance.
