We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Al Loren. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Al below.
Hi Al , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
My discipline comes from training many styles of Martial Arts for forty four years and teaching it fulltime for thirty four years. The many years of intense Training has allowed the opportunity to be consistent, detail oriented, physically conditioned, emotionally balanced and aware of my purpose to assist others on their own life journeys.
I have taught forty thousand classes in my career, which has been the foundation of my discipline to assist others, with lessons I’ve established throughout all these training and teaching years.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a Martial Arts and Tai Chi teacher that has been teaching full-time since 1991. My work over the years has become very specialized. and goal oriented.
I have taught five thousand classes to all ages of people on the Autism Spectrum and other Neurodivergent conditions. This aspect of my business and practice is very close to my heart and purpose. I have authored a Book on the many yearsof teaching in the Autism Spectrum world. It is titled: Martial Arts on the Autism Spectrum-Practical Tips from Three Decades of Training Kids and Adults. It is a three category bestseller on Amazon. I’m very excited about the Book’s message and success.
I also teach Tai Chi to Seniors, being very well established with independent retirement living facilities, Asissted living, Skilled Nursing Departments and Memory Care Facilities. My reputation in the San Francisco Bay area is well known for it’s excellent standard. I have taught over twenty thousand classes, spanning over three decades , mostly to Seniors. I have had many students over a hundred years old during this long teaching tenure. Additionally, I teach Martial Arts to all ages of Kids, Teens and Adults.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The deep passion that I’ve always had for Martial Arts training has been the cornerstone of my success. It has instilled a strong sense of committment to health and discipline in many sectors of my life Secondly, the desire to be of sevice to people in order to help them get healthier and stronger physically, mentally and more confident in their lives to achieve their goals and dreams. Thirdly, is the vision and goal directed belief in myself to achieve all the long lasting successful results that my students have developed.
The advice I would give to people and businesses in their early developmental stages is passion, patience and persistence. Be adaptive when needed, always stay true to yourself with your goals and constantly demonstrate honesty and integrity.
How would you describe your ideal client?
I have many ideal clients and have been very fortunate in teaching to very diversified base. I work with preschool Kids, elementary aged, Teens all adult ages and Seniors in their eighties, nineties and hundreds.
The ideal characteristics that are necessary for me; the desire to improve their fitness health, enhanced balance for seniors, confidence and self esteem for young Kids and Teens and love, acceptance and improved movement for all the people I teach on the Autism Spectrum on other Neurodivergent conditions for individuals.
