Meet Alajie Jaiteh

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alajie Jaiteh. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alajie below.

Alajie, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

My confidence come from my trust within myself as an artist to create something worth the time and effort. That faith in my own skills and my openness to continue to grow and learn , putting myself out there and letting the passion for art takeover.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a photographer, I mainly do outdoor shoots and music events, what I love about taking photos is using the camera and capturing a moment and then later enhancing it into something more from what it is. As an artist I always aim to create dynamic and bold art that stood out. This past April I just had the opportunity to meet directors and actors/actresses, cinematographers and other photographers at the Julien film festival and was able to connect with them and take some photos there and it was a great and inspiring moment.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. The confidence to speak up and direct the models was an important skill to pick up. Early on I let them kind of do whatever but as I grew, I started to take charge more lead them into the shot that I wanted.

2. Being open to explore different style. Recently I started trying different editing styles to different photo I already taken before to practice expanding my personal skillset.

3. Self-respect for my time. At the film festival a photographer gave me some advice about valuing my time and effort as a photographer and that’s really stuck with me and the standard I wanted to set for myself as a professional

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I want to connect and work with more music artists. I don’t have a specific person in mind exactly but I want to get in that space more and be able to shoot at concerts, festivals and create someone cover art.
