Meet Alan Alvarez

We were lucky to catch up with Alan Alvarez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alan , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by staying immersed in culture, not just beauty but everything that shapes how people express themselves: music, fashion, social media, and real community conversations. I approach PR and influencer work like a creator does: by paying attention to what feels authentic, what resonates, and how storytelling evolves.

Creativity for me is a balance of curiosity and structure. I set aside time to research and find inspiration, whether it’s studying past campaigns, discovering emerging creators, or exploring how brands show up in real-world spaces. I also stay grounded in data because the best creative ideas are the ones that perform.

What really keeps me creative is connection. Listening to creators, editors, and audiences helps me find new ways to align brand goals with real human stories. That’s where the most meaningful campaigns and partnerships begin.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I work in PR and influencer relations, focusing on the intersection of storytelling, strategy, and culture. I currently manage public relations and influencer partnerships for several heritage and emerging beauty brands, helping them connect with audiences through authentic and modern storytelling. My work includes press outreach, media strategy, creative seeding campaigns, and experiential activations.

What excites me most about my work is the chance to bring legacy brands into today’s conversation while reintroducing them to a new generation. I love blending traditional PR methods with digital culture, especially when developing influencer collaborations and campaign ideas.

Professionally, I’m focused on growing within larger-scale brand partnerships and experiential storytelling, bridging creativity with data and building meaningful connections between creators and corporations. I’m also exploring ways to make influencer marketing more inclusive and sustainable by spotlighting artistry, authenticity, and community.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Adaptability has been one of the most impactful qualities in my journey. The beauty and marketing industries evolve fast, and being able to pivot, learn new tools, and stay current with cultural trends has been key. Staying curious and open to continuous learning, even beyond your immediate niche, keeps creativity and relevance alive. Relationship building has also been essential. PR and influencer work thrive on trust, and the ability to connect with people authentically, whether clients, creators, or editors, matters more than any pitch deck. Leading with respect and always following through builds long-term credibility. Finally, creative problem-solving has shaped my approach to challenges. Not every campaign comes with a big budget or perfect conditions, so thinking creatively with what’s available teaches resourcefulness. Early in your career, focus on execution and initiative; the creativity and confidence will grow from there.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind has been a quiet guide in how I approach both creativity and leadership. The book taught me that what you believe shapes what you create. It helped me become more intentional about mindset, seeing challenges as opportunities to redirect energy instead of resist it. The biggest lesson was that discipline and belief work together: when you train your thoughts to align with your goals, action becomes instinctive. It’s a mindset that’s shaped how I approach PR strategy, relationships, and growth both personally and professionally.
