Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Albert (al) Scholl. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Albert (Al) , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Ironically I discovered my purpose in art while painting for art therapy after a severe head injury. I fell in love with painting and it evolved into live art and teaching children and adults of all abilities. I found my purpose by helping others with their own lives via an active participation in painting and being an example through live art that if you set your mind to a goal you can accomplish it. My main goal is to inspire others to do what they love.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve recently become disabled and haven’t been able to paint but hoping to get back on the brush soon. My first project will be a line of custom guitars, then I hope to get out into nature again and do what I love. I’m unable to drive or load and unload art and and art show so it’s going to be at least a year until I consider a show or festival, but I’ll never give up on painting.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three facets of my journey that are most important are work ethic, creativity and never giving up. Relentless practice and learning from mistakes instead of getting down on yourself is important. My advice to others is to first shed anyone in your way that doesn’t believe in your dream or holds you back by negativity or baseless opinions. Be unapologetically you.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My wife Lisa has been my most influential person in regard to my goals in the art world. She’s been by my side from the beginning of my teaching career and has helped me tremendously. Having a partner that truly believes in and support ls your dreams is important.
