Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alberta Thomas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Alberta , so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
I developed my ability to take risks by embracing spiritual self-care practices that nurtured my inner peace and helped me find clarity in uncertain situations. By regularly engaging in activities like meditation, journaling, and spending time in nature, I learned to trust my intuition and connect with something greater than myself. These practices gave me the mental and emotional tools to handle challenges, reduce stress, and stay grounded, even when taking risks. Creating a sacred space and setting aside time for reflection allowed me to explore my fears, gain insights, and develop a sense of purpose and confidence. This holistic approach to spiritual self-care enabled me to embrace risks with a clearer mind and a balanced perspective, turning them into opportunities for growth.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a 33 year old native of South Carolina, the CEO of Corporate Classy Podcast, Co-Owner of Mo Movements, Regional Director, TCC, Corporate Trainer, and Mentor. I am an incredible black woman who is all about navigating life with confidence and love.
Not only am I dedicated to helping others, but I wanted to create various platforms to guide women through life while finding their own path and building their confidence along the way. I know firsthand how challenging and hopeless situations can sometimes feel, which is why I wanted to use my own life experiences to bring light and directions to those who need it most.
If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to live life to the fullest and embrace your true potential, I am the person who can show you how to do just that. I have a heart for people and a burning desire to bring out the very best in each and every one of us. I firmly believe that life is what you make it to be. I want to show others that with the right mindset and determination, anything is possible. And let me tell you, I practice what I preach.
So if you’re ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and empowerment, Alberta Thomas is the person you need in your life.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my journey, three qualities have been most impactful: resilience, self-awareness, and the ability to inspire and lead others.
Resilience
Life brings challenges, and being able to bounce back and keep moving forward is essential. I developed resilience by embracing setbacks as opportunities to learn, which gave me the strength to continue pushing toward my goals. For those early in their journey, understand that failure is not final. Embrace your challenges, learn from them, and use them as stepping stones for growth.
Self-Awareness
Knowing who you are, your values, and what drives you is a powerful tool. Self-awareness helped me navigate my career, relationships, and personal life with confidence and intention. My advice is to take time to reflect on your motivations and strengths. Journaling, meditation, and surrounding yourself with people who encourage growth can help you stay grounded in your truth.
Leadership and Empowerment
Building platforms that guide and uplift others has been a key part of my journey. Being able to inspire confidence in others requires not only belief in yourself but also a willingness to share your knowledge and experiences openly. For those just starting, focus on developing your communication skills, listen with empathy, and understand the importance of collaboration. The more you invest in others, the more you’ll find growth in your own leadership.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
One of the most important books to me is The Mountain Is You by Alice Moore and Liam Daniels. It focuses on transforming self-sabotage into self-mastery. As an overthinker and a solution-oriented person, I often find myself operating from a worst-case scenario mindset. While this can be helpful at times, it can also be limiting, especially when facing the unknown. After spending nearly a year working through this book, I’ve learned the importance of embracing uncertainty and being open to whatever comes my way. I’ve shifted my mindset to stay present, avoid overthinking, and not place heavy expectations on others. This change has helped me approach life with greater confidence and peace of mind.
