Meet Albooby

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Albooby a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

ALBOOBY, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I’ve built confidence and self-esteem over time through experience and self-reflection. It started with embracing who I am and where I come from—Brazzaville, Congo—and letting my culture and roots shape my identity and music. I realized that my unique story and sound are my strengths, and no one else can replicate that.

Music has been a massive part of my journey. Performing in front of people, even in small settings at first, taught me to trust my abilities and connect with others. Every positive reaction, every moment when someone resonated with my music, gave me a little more confidence to keep pushing forward.

I also learned to turn setbacks into motivation. Whenever I faced criticism or challenges, I used them as opportunities to grow rather than letting them discourage me. A solid support system—family, mainly my wife, friends, and team—has also played a crucial role. They’ve believed in me even when I doubted myself, and that encouragement has been invaluable.

Ultimately, I believe confidence comes from authenticity. When you’re true to yourself and passionate about your work, that energy shines through and inspires confidence in you and those around you.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Thank you for giving me the chance to share my story! I’m Albooby, an Afrobeat artist from Brazzaville, Congo, now based in Plano, Texas. My musical journey has been all about creating rhythms and melodies that connect with people on a deep emotional level while celebrating my cultural roots.

What excites me most about being an artist is the ability to tell stories and inspire others through my music. Afrobeat is more than just a genre; it’s a movement that represents joy, resilience, and unity. What makes my music special is its authenticity—I blend the sounds of my heritage with modern beats, creating a fresh yet timeless vibe.

Professionally, I’m focused on expanding my reach as a performer and connecting with local and international audiences. I’ve had the honor of opening for major artists like Soulja Boy, and I’m actively working to build a platform that showcases the richness of Afrobeat to even more people.

Right now, I’m working on new music and planning upcoming performances. I’ve recently moved to the Plano, Texas, area, which has opened up opportunities to perform at local venues and collaborate with new artists. One of my exciting projects is my upcoming EP, where I dive deeper into my journey and bring fresh, innovative sounds to my listeners.

I want people to know that my music isn’t just about entertainment—it’s about building bridges and creating connections. Whether through a live performance or a song they stream, my goal is for people to feel the energy, passion, and authenticity I put into everything I do.

If you haven’t already, you can find my music on all major streaming platforms, and I’d love to connect with fans and venues to create more unforgettable experiences.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey, the three qualities and skills that have impacted me most are authenticity, perseverance, and adaptability.

1. Authenticity:
Staying true to myself and where I come from has been crucial. My music is rooted in my cultural heritage, and I’ve learned that people connect with honesty and authenticity. For anyone starting, my advice is to embrace your uniqueness. Whether it’s your story, your style, or your sound—don’t shy away from it. That’s what will make you stand out.

2. Perseverance:
There have been plenty of challenges, from self-doubt to setbacks in my career. My belief in my purpose and willingness to push forward no matter what kept me going. For those early in their journey, I’d say don’t let obstacles define you. View every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow.

3. Adaptability:
Like many fields, the music industry is constantly changing. Being open to new ideas, exploring different sounds, and navigating unexpected situations have been key to my growth. I recommend staying curious, seeking feedback, and stepping out of your comfort zone to develop this skill.

Ultimately, the journey is about progress, not perfection. Focus on building your foundation with these qualities, and over time, you’ll see the results of your efforts. Growth is a process—stay patient and consistent, and always keep learning.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My wife, Bella, has been the most helpful person in my journey. She has been more than just my life partner—she’s also my mentor, manager, and biggest supporter. Bella has played an instrumental role in shaping my career, helping me navigate the complexities of the music industry and guiding me to make decisions that align with my goals. Her belief in my talent and unwavering dedication have given me the confidence to keep pushing forward, even during challenging times.

Bella’s knowledge, insight, and ability to see the bigger picture have been invaluable in helping me develop the essential skills I need to be successful. She constantly challenges me to grow, inspires me to stay authentic to my vision, and ensures I stay on track personally and professionally. Having someone who understands my dreams and works alongside me to bring them to life has been one of the greatest blessings in my career.
