Meet Aleah Vassell

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aleah Vassell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Aleah, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I don’t – I make peace with it.

I have a healthy relationship with my imposter syndrome to when it peaks out to say hello, I can now recognize it immediately. Because of this befriending in a way, I understand that my imposter syndrome is not me but just one part of me.

My imposter syndrome is a collection of voices, media, and thoughts I’ve taken in that make me feel like I’m not enough. It’s another voice in my head, but it is ultimately not myself. I’ve given it a name to further separate it from my true self, the one that loves me. The one that searches for joy. The one that appreciates life and play and is always rooting for me.

I deal with my imposter syndrome by recognizing her as another part of me, and working through the feelings that come with her arrival whenever she wants to say hello.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Aleah Vassell (they/she), a Canadian born, Jamaican rooted, American based multi-passionate creative (actor, creator, and online business owner) living in Dayton, Ohio.

Theatre wise, I’m an actor, playwright, and composer. I love to tell and create stories around blackness, queerness, and togetherness through a lens of joy and compassion. You’ll usually find me on AEA theatre stages across the Dayton / Cincinnati region in Ohio.

Entrepreneur wise, I run an online creative agency called R3 Creative Co where we will help people refocus, reenergize, and reclaim their time through mentorship, consulting, social media, and website design. Starting out as a virtual assistant, my business has blossomed into an array of creative assistance.

Creator wise, I share my wealth building and personal finance journey as a content creator on Instagram under the handle @creativewithmoney. This community has grown to 19,000+ Creatives With Money strong organically in about two years.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Creativity. Resourcefulness. Self-discipline and drive. All of these skills have gotten me where I am today.

As an actor, the pandemic through a major wrench into my life as my career was completely on pause. No theatre could be performed and all filming was at a halt. I could have sat there and kept crying (because Lord knows I cried daily), but eventually, I realized I needed to make money. That’s how my online business as a virtual assistant was born, as well as the starting root for my content creation through Creative With Money.

If you stay creative and act on your ideas, the money will come.

If you stay resourceful, not letting your lack of knowledge stop you and choosing to learn things along the way, the abundance will come.

If you stay self-disciplined, keeping up habits because they’ll help you change even if you don’t feel like, the prosperity will come.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

As a Virtual Assistant coach, I work with folks who are action-takers and are ready to change their life through becoming virtual assistants and making an extra $1,000 – $5,000+ per month, or scale their already existing business to $5,000 – $10,000+ months and beyond. I work with people who believe in themselves, the power of investing, and going after what they both desire and deserve: MORE.

As a creative agency owner, I work with passionate, soul-centered entrepreneurs who are helping their community their unique gifts. Through social media and website design, I help tell their story, building community and loyal clientele. Through 1:1 mentorship, consulting, and creative assistance, I help them get their time back, build their confidence, and allow them to focus on the profit-building tasks that matter most.
