Meet Alec Puskas

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alec Puskas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alec below.

Alec , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I had a wonderful dance teacher in college that was very wise and taught me many life skills. Treat people the way you want to be treated, luck, luck is preperation meeting oppertunity. stand on your own two feet, and your reputation. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have. The meeting is at 1 pm, you are therein the lobby at 12:30. She taught me to do what you say you are going to do and keep your promise to do the best possible job you can. Be Honest!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I do large scale holiday decorations and interior design. I love creating an unexpectd twist on holiday decor. My work tends to be a little more contempary, clean and modern. As an interior designer it is my job to lead the client to an unexpected result for their project. I “push” them in a direction that they would not normally go. I try to take them out of their comfort zone.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Do what you say you are going to do
Treat people with respect and value
Return calls that same day

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

They gave me the freedom of complete expression to be who I wanted to be. My room was my own creative pallate. I changed it several times a month. My closet had grocery bags of all the “Hallmark” holiday decorations inside of them that I had made. I was alowed to have that safe creative space with no judgement. When I went off to college my father had to sand the plaster walls smooth to get all the scotch tape residue off in order to re-paint the walls. I was very lucky
