We were lucky to catch up with Alecia Brinson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alecia, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
First, thanks so much for the opportunity to share my story.
For me, overcoming imposter syndrome really comes back to where my identity lies. My faith has always been the anchor. It’s the constant reminder that God’s already equipped me with everything I need to stand boldly in the calling He’s placed over my life. So when those feelings creep in, I remind myself, “Wait a second, I know who I am, and I know whose image I’m made in.” That shifts everything.
Imposter syndrome has a way of shining a big spotlight on your flaws and weaknesses. I used to let that get to me, but over time I’ve learned to fight back with the truth: reminding myself of my strengths, the things I am good at, and the progress I’ve made. And for the areas where I’m not as strong, I focus on finding solutions instead of beating myself up. That shift in perspective has been huge. It keeps me from spiraling into negative thoughts and instead reminds me of the advantage I have in being resourceful and resilient.
At the end of the day, imposter syndrome still tries to show up, but it doesn’t get to stay long. My faith, my sense of identity, and my ability to reframe those thoughts keep me moving forward with confidence.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the Founder and CEO of The Wealth Nook, a virtual tax and accounting firm where we help small business owners simplify both compliance and financial management. Most business owners don’t realize how powerful financial clarity can be until they experience it. Once they see their numbers clearly laid out, it’s like a light bulb goes off. Suddenly, they can make decisions with confidence. Whether that’s scaling their business, building stronger foundations, or positioning themselves for the funding they need to grow. Being that bridge … the person who helps turn confusion into clarity is what makes the work so fulfilling.
Right now, I’m also in the middle of an exciting rebrand with a soft launch coming soon, and I’ll be speaking at the Wealthy Sis Expo on October 18th. It’s an exciting season of growth for both me and my clients.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are confidence, discipline, and a commitment to always being a student. Confidence came when I stopped downplaying my gifts and truly stepped into what God gave me. That shift changed everything for me.
Discipline has also been huge. It’s a skill you can build over time, and honestly, it outlasts pure talent. You can be average but consistent and still surpass someone who’s naturally gifted but unfocused. Discipline keeps you moving forward even when motivation fades.
And then, staying a student — always reading, learning, and seeking knowledge. I know “read books” sounds cliché, but it’s true: if you want to know something, you’ll find it. The same way you’d search for the best coffee shop nearby, you can search for books on leadership, confidence, or entrepreneurship. Knowledge is always accessible if you’re willing to seek it out.
If I could add a fourth, it would be learning how to ask the right questions. You don’t have to know everything, but you do need to know how to ask questions that lead you to the answers and solutions you need.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, absolutely! I’m always open to collaboration and partnership, especially with people who share a heart for serving small business owners. I truly believe you can go far alone, but you’ll always go further together. In my line of work, collaboration isn’t just helpful, it’s essential to creating real impact for the small business community.
If you’d like to connect, you can find me on Instagram or LinkedIn, or reach out directly by email at [email protected]. My website is also a great place to start. Whether it’s a quick call, a Zoom, or even coffee if you’re local, I’m always open to exploring how we can partner to better serve small businesses and help them thrive.
