We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aleen Khachatourian a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Aleen , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My love & lust for life.
I’m also competitive with myself and I never rest on what’s already come.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a first-generation Armenian-American raised in Los Angeles, my identity deeply shapes my work. I’m a writer, singer, and creative producer, primarily focused on writing and poetry.
I balance my artistic practice with my business—it’s a dance between creativity and practicality that energizes me daily.
At MOONS Creative, we handle digital branding, content strategy, and production.
Throughout each day, I move fluidly between artist and producer, blending imagination with real-world execution.
I’m proud to create alongside a team that’s genuinely passionate about what we do.
I’m currently working on a few projects; a poetry book is forthcoming.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
From when I was a small human, I was always observant and curious. Investigating everything quite intensely and making sure I knew as much of the why behind something as possible.
Without realizing it, I was sharpening my ability to hold multiple perspectives, to listen objectively and then make my own assessment. I was also addicted to reading and that’s been foundational in my work as a writer.
I think to be good at anything, you must first observe and be a good listener.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
First, I speak directly to my inner child, meet her with compassion and affirm her experience . She has to know that I have her back before attempting to fix anything. Then, I coach the adult part of me through whatever the process at hand is.
Advice: Meet yourself where you’re at. There is always a price & payoff to everything. Don’t take yourself too seriously!
