Meet Alessia Falvo

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alessia Falvo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alessia , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Finding your purpose is no easy task! The challenges and doubts to face are so many that oneself can easily fall into the trap of quitting or overthinking too much. Once you believe you are on the right road, you should feel a strong feeling in your gut, like a little voice saying “that’s it”. (That at least it’s how it happened and happens with me!) The right feeling doesn’t mean an easy road, but it means “you got this” and follow it no matter how troubled it is. Purpose can put itself between the lines of your life, our job is to catch them! For example I started as a ballet dancer, I was so taken by it and deeply in love with it but my teacher was constanlty saying to me – if you could only dance (technique wise) how you acted it, it will increbible – I hated that statment, but now I understand that it was to make me realise that dance is just a part of my journey but not the end. Thanks to that I have found Acting and now I feel in a more right place!
The purpose will show itself when it’s time, your task is to follow the breadcrumbs and go with your gut, always.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an Italian Actress! I was born and raised in Rome, Italy!
I spent most of my young life travelling, studying to improve my technique as an Artist. As I already mentioned, my journey begins as a classical dancer at the age of 6, then moved to the Musical Theatre world thanks to which I discovered Acting and started properly training for it at 16.
The more I studied it the more I was deeply falling in love with it!
I decide later on to take a new turn and just focused on Acting, so I went to New York these past 3 years to study at the Neighborhood Playhouse where I graduated in 2023! I discovered the Meisner Technique and the greatest group of artists of all times. This upcoming generation of actors are hungry to make amazing work and change the business for good. We need a fresh restart after all these years of always seeing the same faces on the screen or theatres!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think it is essential to be determined, self-disciplined and resilient!
Life ain’t easy in whatever thing you decide to do, if it’s acting or law. Everything has its own obstacles and challenges that we need to face every day, but if you are certain about it and there is nothing else that matters the most, follow it and go through it. I always say never say you have a Dream, but a Goal in life, in this way that “dream” can become a reality and a concrete path.
Always trust what your gut is telling you. For example, I decided to not choose after high school the road of University, not because I couldn’t but didn’t want to. It’s risky nowadays, because if you do not have a University Degree people might think you’re lazy, not able, or that you will not have a good profit in life. I am not saying, don’t go to University! But just follow what you think is right for you, mostly in your 20s!
There is no right answer or right choices, only answers and choices, those bring us where we need to go and sometimes falling is part of it. Don’t be scared of losing or failing, I was and still am, but thanks to all of that I am here now with an established career on the way!

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

Every challenging moment or time cannot be infinite. Life is a rollercoaster, as such it’s created by ups and downs. Every difficult time or traumatic experience is determined to end. I always remind myself that after the rain it will always come the rainbow, life is the same. I just went through a hard transition moment in my life in which I had to accept the fact of going back to Italy after three years in New York. My reaction with everyone else was of joy and acceptance, but within me I was suffering, I felt as if I failed and quit my goals forever. I thought in all these months – how I could have possibly allowed this to happen -. But my gut was saying that I had to go back home. I followed it no matter how hard it was and still is. But now things are getting into place little by little and the rainbow is finally coming, I can’t wait to see the sun again!
