Meet Alex Giddings

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alex Giddings a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alex, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

My generosity comes from a mix of gratitude, my upbringing, and a genuine desire to create opportunities for others. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve seen firsthand how small acts of kindness can have a big impact. I learned early on that generosity isn’t just about giving money; it’s about giving time, sharing knowledge, and building others up.

In real estate, I’ve realized that it’s not just about closing deals—it’s about building trust, solving problems, and helping clients achieve their dreams. That mindset has shaped how I approach life and business. Whether it’s mentoring my agents, brainstorming ideas to improve lives in my community, or finding ways to give back, I’m always driven by the belief that success feels richer when you lift others along the way.

At the core, I think generosity is about understanding that we’re all connected. If I can make someone else’s path a little smoother—whether it’s through a kind word, a shared resource, or even just showing belief in their vision—that ripple effect can go far. And honestly, knowing I’ve contributed to something positive gives me more joy than anything else.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the founder of Tropix International, a luxury real estate company based in Guyana. Real estate has always inspired me because of its ability to create value—not just financially, but in the way it changes lives and communities. I specialize in luxury residential and commercial properties, and what excites me most is helping my clients turn their visions into reality, whether it’s finding their dream home or securing the perfect space to grow their business.

What makes Tropix International special is our commitment to building trust and delivering excellence. I want every client interaction to be more than just transactional; it should feel like a partnership where their goals are my top priority.

Another aspect of my work I’m passionate about is mentoring and coaching my agents. It is incredibly rewarding to watch them grow, succeed, and find their unique strengths in this competitive industry.

Right now, I’m focused on scaling operations and sharing more insights with our audience. One of the ways we’re doing that is through a new headline called ‘Market Gap,’ a monthly segment that highlights untapped opportunities in the real estate market. For instance, there’s an urgent need for affordable housing in Georgetown, and we’re actively working to bring attention to solutions that serve both investors and the community.

I’m also growing our social media presence to connect with a broader audience. I believe real estate is as much about storytelling as it is about numbers, and I want people to see the value, beauty, and potential that exists in Guyana.

The journey so far has been exciting, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share a piece of it with your readers. Tropix isn’t just a brand; it’s a vision for what real estate can be—a tool for creating growth, opportunities, and better futures

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most impactful elements in my journey have been adaptability, relationship-building, and a growth mindset. These have not only shaped my career in real estate but also how I approach life and business in general.

Adaptability: The real estate industry is dynamic—markets shift, trends evolve, and no two clients are the same. Being able to adjust quickly while staying focused on long-term goals has been a game-changer for me. For those starting, my advice is to embrace change and always look for opportunities within challenges. Learn to pivot, stay calm under pressure, and remain open to new strategies.

Relationship-Building: Success in any field comes down to people. I’ve learned that building trust and meaningful connections with clients, colleagues, and partners is the foundation for long-term growth. Early on, focus on listening more than you speak. Understand people’s needs, invest in genuine relationships, and never underestimate the value of kindness and professionalism. These qualities will open more doors than you can imagine.

A Growth Mindset: The ability to learn, unlearn, and grow has been pivotal in my journey. Real estate is highly competitive, and there’s always something new to learn—whether it’s market trends, negotiation tactics, or leadership skills. For anyone just starting, I’d say be curious, stay humble, and invest in your personal and professional development. Read books, seek mentorship, and view every experience—good or bad—as an opportunity to grow.

Ultimately, success isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. Focus on building your skills, nurturing your network, and remaining adaptable as you carve your path forward. The journey will have its challenges, but every step is worth it when you stay committed to your vision

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Three things have been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and grow: mentorship, continuous learning, and resilience.

Mentorship has been invaluable. Learning from others who have walked similar paths has helped me avoid common pitfalls and gain perspective. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors in both life and business who pushed me to think bigger, challenge my limits, and refine my approach. For anyone looking to grow, I’d say don’t hesitate to reach out to people you admire. Whether it’s a formal mentorship or a quick coffee chat, their insights can be transformative.

Continuous learning has also played a huge role. I’ve always made it a point to invest in my personal and professional development. Whether it’s attending workshops, reading books, or simply observing how others operate, every bit of knowledge adds up. Real estate is a fast-paced industry, and staying ahead means staying curious. There’s always something new to learn—about people, markets, or even yourself.

Finally, resilience has been key. Challenges are inevitable, but I’ve learned to view them as stepping stones rather than roadblocks. My mindset has always been that no matter how tough things get, there’s always a way forward. Whether it’s taking a moment to regroup, leaning on my support system, or just reminding myself why I started, resilience has helped me stay grounded and keep moving.

At the heart of it all, I believe that growth comes from embracing the process—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Every challenge is an opportunity to become stronger, smarter, and more prepared for what’s next.
