Meet Alex Nahai

We recently connected with Alex Nahai and have shared our conversation below.

Alex, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Thank you so much for having me. I would say my resilience comes mainly from three distinct areas of my life. The first one is being a first-generation American, the child of immigrants. Witnessing my parents navigate the complexities of a new life with courage and grit really shaped my own capacity to withstand adversity.

Secondly, the personal and professional challenges I’ve overcome over the years have also contributed to my resilience and tenacity. Even though these experiences were difficult, they were also instructive and made me mentally tougher.

Lastly, my resilience comes from my sense of purpose and ambition. My dreams and goals are what I think about when I wake up and go to sleep each day. Whenever faced with setbacks, I always come back to my sense of purpose and that helps me focus on the bigger picture.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am grateful that my career journey has been diverse, spanning various industries from technology to entertainment, and recently, branching into real estate development.

I currently serve as the North American CEO for BNDR Pty Ltd, overseeing subsidiaries like Stream Live and Dancing Seahorse, which have reached significant milestones. For instance, Dancing Seahorse achieved almost $11 million in revenue within 6 months of launch, and Stream Live has become the the go-to live concert streaming service for the music business with users in over 170 countries.

Parallel to this, I run the Alex Nahai Companies, a law firm, agency, and consulting company. It’s been a privilege to work with renowned firms and creatives in the media, technology and entertainment world such as FOX, Drai’s, Bento Box Entertainment, Endeavor, Sonar Entertainment, Mighty Animation, IDW Entertainment, Sekoya Management Group, and many others.

I am also the co-founder of Togethr, a patent-pending digital mental health platform powered by a complex algorithm. Even though it is still in development, it has been a rewarding project, especially as we navigate the early stages of growth and funding.

Finally, I am a partner in Bedrock Property Investors, a real estate development company with 4 multi-family residential projects in Los Angeles.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I think the book that really changed my life was “The Four Agreements,” by Don Miguel Ruiz. Most people who are familiar with this book are already aware of its four key principles (i.e. be impeccable with your word, don’t make assumptions, don’t take anything personally, and always do your best).

However, the part that was even more influential for me was the beginning of the book that highlights the ways in which our society has evolved (or devolved) into the ecosystem we live in today, and explains the reasons why.

What I also found to be truly informative was the descriptions of interactions between parent and child, which also provided more insight into how our early interactions shape our current outlook on life.

This book was able to provide a lot of awareness for me that set me on a path toward significant positive change and growth.
