Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alex Pecina. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alex, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
In 2014, upon completing my education at Saint Mary’s College, I embarked on the journey of marriage and parenthood. I was the first of my friends to get married and have kids right after college. I knew I always wanted to be a Mom and was blessed with two boys Jay (age 7) and Mac (age 5). I was in the thick of raising two kids under two, wishing I had something outside of my motherhood role to make me feel more like myself again. I am an extrovert so I realized, staying home with kids was a struggle for me. I felt lost in my new identity of having all these new titles (Wife, Mom, etc…) in such a short amount of time. In this pivotal moment, the seeds of my self-discovery were sown, leading to the becoming of Alex Pecina and the inception of Park Place Medical Spa—a testament to my unwavering determination to reclaim my sense of self and contribute meaningfully beyond the realm of motherhood and marriage.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Park Place Medical Spa was started by my Father, Dr. Arnold Del Pilar, a local Michiana Family Physician. His dream to create Park Place began with a vision to revolutionize patient care. My mother, Mary Del Pilar, worked alongside him as a laser tech for years to help bring his dream to life. Once I came on board, we all set out on a mission to do one thing: Create A Medical Spa That Cares. Being an adult in my 30s, I have realized how unbelievably blessed I am to be raised by parents who genuinely care about people. Their integrity, work ethic, high standards, and patient first mentality has been the such an influential example to me as I have taken over running this family business.
For the last 10 years, I worked alongside my parents growing this Medical Spa in a tiny corner of my Father’s Family Practice, Del Pilar Medical and Urgent Care. I created my own corner in his personal office to see patients. There was a blue hospital curtain dividing my patient’s treatment area from his desk. My job was to post on Instagram, answer phone calls, advertise to radio stations, create mailers, assist during treatments, create patient notes, get before/after pictures and consent forms signed, lead consultations, develop treatment plans, treat patients with Coolsculpting, etc. For 9 years I was the Receptionist, Marketing Department, Assistant, Provider, and somedays a Therapist. I loved it. Building relationships and making people feel beautiful and comfortable with their insecurities is truly what I feel called to do. I know my purpose, and that is pouring into others.
Now, 10 years later, we have evolved into a team of 12 wonderful providers who all encompass the same beliefs and mindset. The way God threaded these girls into my life and found roles within this business so I am able to support them and their family is beyond me. The Park Place Girls are my sisters and my chosen family. Everything I do in this business and for the future of the company it is solely to support them and help them grow and blossom into the amazing individuals they are. They believed in my tiny vision and because of that we have been blessed to grow and move into a luxurious, state-of-the-art facility located in Granger, Indiana. We have created a “one-stop-shop” for everyones needs. At Park Place, there is something for everyone here. Our services include: Massage Therapy, Facials, Botox Injections, Filler, PRFM, Free Visia Skin Analysis, EMSCULPT NEO (building muscle, eliminating fat), Medical Weight Loss Program, IV Therapy, Vitamin Injections, Laser Treatments, RF Microneedling, and everyones’ favorite…. the chocolate at the front desk!
As we celebrate our first year in our new location, we remain true to my family’s mission to prioritize the needs and aspirations of our patients above all else. At Park Place Medical Spa, relationships are cherished, trust is earned and every success story is a testament to the power of connection and collaboration.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities stand out as instrumental in shaping my path:
Vision and Trust: Finding people who shared my vision and whom I could trust implicitly was key. Collaborating with like-minded people who believed in the potential of Park Place helped turn our aspirations into reality. My advice for those starting their journey is to prioritize building relationships with individuals who not only align with your vision but also demonstrate unwavering support and trustworthiness. You will learn very quickly who your people are. Invest time and effort in growing these connections, they will serve as invaluable assets on your journey.
Passion and Purpose: Converting passion into purpose fueled my determination and progress. Identifying what truly ignites your soul and channeling that energy into tangible goals is essential. For those embarking on their journey, I urge you to introspect and identify your passions—those things that make you come alive. Once you’ve identified them, push fear to the side and commit yourself wholeheartedly to nurturing and pursuing them. Your passion and purpose will serve as your guiding light, propelling you forward even in the midst of challenges.
Supportive Community: Surrounding yourself with individuals who uplift and champion your dreams is vital. A supportive community provides encouragement, feedback, and a sense of belonging that is invaluable on the journey toward success. My advice is to seek out communities—whether online or in-person—that align with your interests and aspirations. Engage with these groups, share your journey, be real, be authentic and offer support to others. In doing so, you’ll not only find camaraderie but also invaluable mentorship and inspiration.
My journey has taught me the importance of vision, passion, and community. Embrace your vision, nurture your passions, and surround yourself with people who truly believe in your potential. With dedication and support, the possibilities are endless!
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Years ago, one of our device reps recommended the book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne and it changed my mindset completely. The central themes of the book is the law of attraction, which suggests that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person’s life. Each chapter emphasizes the importance of gratitude and positive affirmations in shaping your reality. By expressing gratitude for the blessings already present in our lives and affirming positive beliefs about ourselves and our future, we can shift our focus towards abundance and possibility.
What I loved about this book is that it pertains to all realms of life: health, family, friendships, business, etc.! This practice helped me crack the code to develop a mindset of abundance and attract more positive experiences. It’s an easy read, I highly recommend!
